It’s a pity that they didn’t say anything about creating music for the game, because for me this is the best audio accompaniment in the entire gaming industry. And every single melody from Gustavo is a masterpiece that fits perfectly with this story.

Playing the first game with my dad was such an experience. When part 2 came out, my dad was going blind. So, I would be explaining to him what was going on. Him hearing Joel die and him telling me to do something and me telling him that I can’t and just accepting that he was dead was hard. My dad died a year later. But, we talked about if there was going to be a part 3. And we would come up with ideas of what would that be like. I hope there’s another part. After much hesitation, he seeks contact with the Firefly healthcare system who are the only ones powerful enough to potentially help him. There he learns that the surgeon he killed (Abby's dad) was the only one who could have potentially helped him. Knowing he is dying with no one who can help him, he moves in with Frank and Billy, getting hammered drunk most of the time and watching whatever soap operas he can find on DVD until he meets his inevitable demise. Billy plays "Funeral of Queen Mary" on the piano while they mourn him. Meanwhile, Ellie remains in Jacksonville and gets depressed about Joel's condition and death. Abby arrives, looking to get revenge for her father, but open learning that Joel is already dead, she and her crew builds a Disc Golf course in Jacksonville instead and challenge Ellie on a skins game disc golf match. It's a hard subject. Yes, work/life balance is important, but also, people should be free to dedicate 100% of their time to people and a project they feel passionately about. There are people who love the challenge and feel unrivaled pride in their work when it's finished. I think, legally, this should only be allowed if the people doing this have sufficient rev share from the final product. I'm all for the game industry being unionized, but if a bunch of devs who are also shareholders want to sleep under their desks because they're busy making their life's work, I want to make sure they always can.

@@TheGamersGrotto No they didnt. nothing about this sentence functions as double entendre because that's not what that term means. Double entendre is when a single statement carries two (sometimes opposing) implications depending on how the sentence is approached. What actually happened here is that the OP typed a word according to how they've heard it spoken, which is a really common occurrence on the internet these days, probably because of modern illiteracy rates and the rise of podcasts/youtube. A decent example is how you sometimes see people write 'piqued' as 'peaked', or 'should-of' instead of 'should have'. I've seen a person write 'esque' as 'esk'. 'Debree' is another one. 'Milk toast'. 'All intensive purposes'. I understand it sounds insulting or elitist to point these things out, but I think everybody should be concerned with how people's writing ability is diminishing in a world in which we read little beyond government letters and internet posts. It being a social faux pas to correct people for these sorts of language failures (i.e., your comment to me), means that the vast majority of people who write incorrectly are wholly content in doing so and feel no personal issue with it, which carries bleak implications also the term you're looking for is homophone, not double entendre

That scene is obviosly not sexist, its just a depection of a brutal thing that often happens in reality, but the article fails to mention the director of that game, david cage, who absolutley is a misojynist, since in his previous game he got the team to created a fully nude and detailed model of eliot page (at the time ellen page, they transitioned) despite that specifically being against their contract.

Major props to everyone involved, Naughty Dog are so awesome!!
@crazyinsane5002 ай бұрын
It wasn't courage. The opposite, in fact. Behind-the-scenes Neil Druckmann knew his "genius" revenge story he's been pushing since college wouldn't get bankrolled because nobody liked the premise by it's own merits. So he kept trying to force it into projects and was consistently overruled, whether it be Elena dying in Uncharted 2 to motivate Drake or some unnamed person dying to motivate Tess to hunt Joel in the first game. He *knew* he couldn't pull a Rebel Moon and just use the idea absent a franchise. And the worst part? There are no moral questions. It, in no uncertain terms, was trying to convey that some people, like the fictional character Abby, are entitled to commit violence against others and that their victims, like Joel and Ellie, deserve it and are wrong for thinking otherwise. This is because Neil Druckmann, who wrote the story, personally thinks this and is what he used to justify firing people for being the *victims* of a former MP developer who was his friend.

But what I love doing is watching other people experiencing these games for the first time (playthroughs). If you do however, I suggest looking for playthroughs in the past ~2 years, as the first year was riddled with people who were only playing it for views and didn't really care about the story, making the experience much less enjoyable Watching these give me these same feelings again, without having to play them again. My first language is not English, so this is a machine translation. I am not sure if it will come across correctly, but I would still like to convey this sentiment. Thank you for making this game. All your dedication, hard work, anguish, and sadness have resulted in the best game in the gaming industry. I was so much looking forward to this game that I didn't put any information about the game until it was released, I never imagined that the leak incident was as bad as it was. It is also unfortunate that the most difficult time in game development coincided with the world's most difficult incident in recent years. But as a result, I feel something strange that you have come to the same learning that you described in your game, "to let go of hatred and forgive others". When I first played this game, leading up to the ending, I could not forgive anyone. Why did Ellie spare Aby, who had taken everything from her and also left everything behind herself to pursue her? Why, after such a grueling journey, did Ellie gain nothing and, in the end, even no longer play the guitar that Joel had taught her? I couldn't take it all in, and while I understood that it was definitely a great game, I couldn't play it a second time. But then, after a long pandemic and many experiences, and as one person said, "Of all human emotions, forgiveness is the most difficult. This story is about a person who was able to get it and escape from the chain of hatred." After reading this story, I was able to gradually digest it in my mind. To this day, I am still kind of traumatized feeling by the T2 story. But just as Ellie "tried" to forgive what Joel had done in the story, I have come to believe that I will attempt to do the same. And now I've just purchased the remaster and am beginning my second journey, and I'm thinking the same thing I thought when I played T1. This game will be a big part of my life. Again, thank you for making this game.

Thank you for putting this together

I've played in 7 times I think - I loved this game so, so so so much. My dad was rapidly declining and after a few months died of leukemia as I began playing it. It struck such a chord with me. I still cry at that ending scene. My dad was my hero, so seeing Ellie lose Joel made me feel like I lost him too. I loved how brutal you made it, I love that it was often depressing, because I've always been clinically depressed and it made me feel seen and understood in a way. Thank you for telling this story. It means so much to me, and I truly hope that there will be a part 3.

It's truly incredible to get a real view of what it takes to make a game like this. The details, the blood, the animations. Incredible.

I’m one of those fans who came from the TV series. I started the game as TV show aired. I would watch one episode of the show then sat down to play that story on ps. Then in later episodes, I played the game first and watched the series later. Either way, it was more immersive. As TV and game combined, I would get full experience. After the season 1 finished, I played TLOU2 immediately. I couldn’t wait any longer. And I loved it!! I finished the TLOU2 three times already. When I first played TLOU2, I cannot fight Abby on the beach, I dropped my RC multiple times because I couldn’t kill Abby and I would die as Ellie and game restarts again ‘n again. Just thinking about it brings tears to my eyes. I should’ve watched this “making of” video sooner. I didn’t know what you guys went through. It is really frustrating to see toxic fans in any medium. After watching this video, I respect and proud of you guys even more. Wish you all the best! And thank you for bringing this story to us.

I cried, laughed, got excited, scared and so angry throughout this documentary. So I can’t even describe what I felt during the actual game. Whenever I hear the dialog or even sounds of the death scene I break down again and have to look away from the screen. It’s a reflex at this point. It really destroyed me. This is how intense this medium can be. I’m so glad I avoided all spoilers when this game came out and played it knowing barely anything. From the day it’s officially announced, until the day 3 comes out I will do my best to stay away from any news regarding the release, especially if it’s some sort of leak. To get that fresh intense play through again. I consider each one of these a masterpiece of storytelling.

Part 2 is the best game I’ve ever played, everything from gameplay to narrative. This game just touched me in such a way I can’t even explain, master piece

It’s awesome! Thanks to the studio for making this film. I’m a technical designer at a game development company. And from this perspective, watching how to make a really huge, high-level game is really inspiring and interesting from a technical standpoint, as well as from other perspectives, actually. After watching it, I want to replay both parts of The Last of Us.

Omg. It's incredible how much work goes into games that we never get to see. The amount of detail is UNREAL. This story, particularly TLOS Part II has stayed with me for years. It's one of the best stories, in any sort of medium, that I've seen. I can't wait for the next chapter

I really don’t know what to say… watching these documentaries and seeing the sheer passion in these guys faces just gives me goosebumps every time. Neil is a fucking creative genius and the amount of hard work they put into making this game is just incredible, you can see just how tired most of them look from the constant grind to make this perfect game and Neil is clearly the shepherd of this fantastic flock. TLOU literally changed my life. I have nothing but love for these guys and am so proud to be playing one of the best games that’s ever been made for my generation. I’m just hoping and praying they eventually change their minds and actually decide to make a Factions 2 and Part 3 because it’s come to the point where I’m too emotionally attached with this game now it’s crazy. This is more than just a game it’s a religion and to be honest I wish it never ends and just keeps going. The memories of summer 2013 when looking back in hindsight was a time that something truly special was born. God bless you all at Naughty Dog and more power to you 🙏❤️

Cannot wait to delve into what it took and what it took out of the creators to make this masterpiece of a game. Honestly one of the greatest stories told for me personally.

Neil Druckmann wasn't looking out for employees when he was firing them so he could try to protect his MP Developer best friend who would grab them by the chest and groin.

I feel like TLOU is a big part of my life as I've been there from the very beginning. I remember getting the original game at launch back in 2013, and being incredible excited to play another Naughty Dog game. I had played the Uncharted games and fell in love with them so I was excited to see what ND had in store for us next. Little did I know that TLOU would be one of my favorite video game franchises of all time... the rest is history. Thank you ND for what you do. I hope one day, I'll get to be involved in the TLOU universe somehow, or maybe another ND project! One can dream!

I figure this will probably never reach the team, but both these games are such landmarks in my life. I will never forget the incredible, raw and powerful emotions I felt playing through the first game, and then the second 7 years later. I am just grateful for the ride so far, and hopeful I will get to feel those intense feelings once more. Thank you everyone, from the bottom of my heart. ❤
