Smalland reminds me of the movie Epic or Arthur and the Invisibles, while Grounded is more like Honey I Shrunk the Kids. They are all about small people and backyards, but vastly different stories and feel. Personally looking forward to Smalland and seeing where it goes.

There is more than enough room for both of these games to exist in the medium. We should be looking forward to how each game tackles the "shrunken-down" challenges and what they do differently, and not worrying about who did what first.

I would love tamable Ladybugs and RolyPolys as transport for multiple Stem and Grass pallets, plus they push grass aside when walking making it easier to go straight where you're going without needing zipline towers everywhere.

Yes. Absolutely, there is enough space for another survival game similar grounded. I really like grounded, had it since early access and I was keeping an eye out for smalland when I heard from it for the first time. Both games have there player base and they are overlapping and that’s a good thing. More to play 😊

I love grounded. Started playing it a few months ago after playing it only for a few hours way back in the day. But now i'm just happy and hoping for another good survival game making its way to console! Now if only we could hear some sort of whisper out of the Fun Pimps with some news about 7 Days and that would make 2023 an amazing year for console survival games! Especially with news of developers of Raft working on console adaptations!

My family and I recently discovered Grounded and are loving it. But playing it made me want to go back and watch the 1989 film Honey, I Shrunk the Kids, and introduce it to my kids. Hearing them call out the similarities between the film, which predates the game by 30 years, was pretty cool. 4 kids (there's 4 in Grounded) are shrunk by a machine created by a scientist (in Grounded, they are shrunk by an evil corporation that's following work of a scientist the canned). A baseball thru the window is what hits the machine, turning it on and causing the kids to get shrunk (the first thing you see coming out of the briefcase in the backyard is a giant baseball). At one point, the kids find shelter in a blue lego (there's a blue lego in the sandbox, I think). Two of the boys catch a ride on a bee, and the group befriends a lone ant using a chunk from a giant cookie they find (there's bees, ants, and cookies in Grounded). The group spends their time shrunk traversing thru the backyard to the house, and the games environment takes place in the backyard. My point is that it would appear that the developers took some inspiration from this film. But beyond that are so many films about shrunken people and I'm sure many books too. The ideas aren't stolen between the developers. They are inspired by ideas of others that were inspired by ideas of others and so and so on. I have lots of ideas but don't necessarily have the resources I need to make things happen. But I don't assume I'm the only one with my ideas or that if I could one day put something out there that someone else could too similarly and while it might seem, the timing is coincidental if my ideas were inspired why cant I just accept theirs were too?

I enjoyed Grounded when it was put out into early access. Haven't played since release but it looks like they've added a lot! Smalland looks incredible! And definitely has a strong appeal... Taming, mounts, larger area, more of a fantasy feel... Definitely a different experience! I'm excited to get back into Grounded and to check out Smalland!!! Thanks for the video Jade!

Just wondering but why did at the beginning of the video you say about the comments being "over the top" and "mad hating on something" yet the comments you showed were about how the "game looks outlandish, otherwordly Morrowind feel I love it" or "cant wait for it to come out". For anyone that wants to say that they are copies of each other this is the best way I could create a difference. Smallands is similar to the movie Epic, where there are little creatures that live in forest and people don’t know about them. While Grounded is similar to the movie Honey I Shrunk the Kids, where a failing scientist makes an invention that works and it causes people to be shrunken without their consent. Also none of them are exactly like these movies, but these are the closest comparisons I have found.

This is how I see it and I have been playing grounded since shroom and doom update. Grounded is based off of "Honey I Shrunk The Kids" while Smalland is kind of based off of several different shows where the characters are as small as bugs, for example "Tree Fu Tom" but like Jade said Smalland is more similar to ARK and Conan Exile in terms of actual gameplay style.

As someone who enjoys games like Ark, Atlas, Valheim, and Grounded, I gotta say you make valid points, yes we can say they are all similar to each other. However each game has it's own merits and brings something special to the table in their own right. Personally i love grounded, Its a great game with great ideas and I can't wait to see where it ends up going. That said if we can even do half the stuff in Smalland that your footage shows, then I can't wait for it be released. Riding bugs was something I personally wanted in Grounded, but your trailer was showing stuff like balloons and little train like things, and for that alone I'm excited to see just what I would be able to build and create.

skill points and level ups are undoubtebly rpg mechanics. it's a survival rpg since progression is gatekeeped by points unlike a game where things are unlocked via crabbing the appropriate material.

i would absolutely buy and play Small Land, it kind of looks like Valheim in terms of graphics, and I love that. Grounded wasn't great at first, but I came to enjoy it. I would love to see more games like that. combat with rolling is definitely a plus on Grounded.

I grew up watching a TV cartoon called The Littles, and as a kid, I was always fascinated by the miniature world. My favorite character was the pilot, but games like these really do kick in that nostalgia. Always a fan of these, despite the "entitled" hate and posturing. Some kids don't know how good they have it! What a time to be alive!!

I miss those days. No politics in kids entertainment. No "mandatory one of every color and gender". No "girl characters must never be under the leadership of boy characters" No "all white boy characters can only ever be idiots or assholes, or comic relief". Back when it wasn't so predictable that the villain is the old white hetero men. ...just a group of friends trying to solve a mystery or get through another day of challenges. Simple. Sorry, I didn't previously notice these elements of gender and race. Then feminists asked me to open my eyes. I did and I saw that women and minorities were underrepresented. Good, I agree, let's work on that. But fast forward a few years and my eyes are still open. And entertainment is overcompensating. The problems with representation haven't been fixed. The problems have just shifted from women and minorities to white hetero men and boys. Sad. I guess people need a villain. I guess people need to feel superior to cartoon characters. I guess people need to hate something.

for me grounded is the forest for kids. exact same building system. you fight bugs instead of canibals. Smalland looks like you already said more like a combination of ark and Conan to me. Ouh and Grounded really is just like a delayed game to the movie: Honey, I shrunk the kids. The Movie is from 1989 and guess what? The Notes you find in the yard are also from 1987 up to 1990. Maybe you could go ahead and watch the movie and compare it with Grounded Story.

Both games are great in their own rights. Smalland seems to keep things scaled more realistically like the lady bugs. The size and aggression in grounded is a lil much lol. One thing I like more about grounded is ability to swim which gives us fish and water creatures plus swimming is just normal lol. I love both games and will play the crap out of both lol.

Some things still look worrying, but not as much as the company's previous catalog. This is pretty ambitious and ripe for jank failure. That being said, Grounded was a fantastic coop experience even though the AI seemed to be programmed in the 90s.

If I didn't know anything about the games I would assume Grounded was made by a small indie studio and Smalland was made by a big studio. lol. Smalland has way more detailed assets and world. it's not even close. I'm not sure why some of the people in the comments are so blind but I shouldn't be surprised, most can't even spell the name right! Servers can have up to 32 players and PvP can be enabled in sever settings, fyi. There isn't any reward for PvP. Which sucks but I understand that they're going for a more casual target audience and a full blown PvP game loop like Ark takes a lot resources and can be a giant pain in the butt for balancing. Hopefully they add some fun PvP mini games to keep the game from becoming boring. Anyways, thanks for the vid!

as someone whose played smalland it has nowhere near the level of detail or immersion as grounded yet, that might change but its long way off as should be given ist at start of early access, grounded has tons of story and writtern dialogue, huge base building components with different tiers, hords and really good ai, are you sure you have played grounded?

@@JadePGC Did you play a really early build of Smalland? I have to beg the differ based off the most recent gameplay footage. It looks like the devs made sure the world felt lived in by the elf-like characters with the massive amount of tiny assets that are very detailed. Grounded having a simpler look works with the art-style. It's just not my cup of tea. :) Yes, I've played an extensive amount of Grounded. I was a beta tester and played it up until the release.

Guess it depends on the perspective of the player, for me I have seen videos of grounded, and I have seen some streams of Grounded. It just didn't interest me at all. I watched someone stream Smalland yesterday this being the first time I had ever heard of the game, and I already love it.

Grounded looks like "Honey I Shrunk the Kids" whereas Smallland looks more like a magical fantasy world. As much fun as I'm having with Grounded, Smallland looks (just based on footage shown here) more like my kind of game. I'm not going to get too into nit-pickyness or "A is better than B." I will say (subjectively, personally) I'm not exactly a fan of controlling "teenagers" who look and act like they're 10-years old.

I'm hyped for Smallland, tame and ride lizards, grasshoppers and dragonflies? Sign me up. Spiders look realistic and intimidating, weather, wind looks great on foliage. I like how armor has the insect wings to flight suit you down to the ground instead of the tufts from Grounded that wear out after 5 jumps. Both good games but I'll stray towards SL more.

idk i like my choices it just hard to move on to another game . Valheim seem to be the best then grounded idk about small land . yes a few others out there but none give off the vibes like Valheim an Grounded . yes there some stuff Valheim has better then Grounded but the same can be towards Valheim . the building in Valheim seems to be better /combat. while ground combat system isn't really lack luster there gear upgrade system is awsome an the way you unlock new stuff is even better with cookie in the game . Valheim is still pumping new stuff out Ground on the other hands has slowed to a crawl hope soon we get a new zone or more zones for grounded . im looking forward to it . anywhoo keep smashing/keep building

Smallland has micrograss, which makes no sense. Grounded looks like in should look if you are a small person. This is the reason I like Grounded more, because it is more realistic.

Far as I can tell from a distance, grounded is about finished in terms of new content, with a ton of cut content (that would have kept the game In the lead for longer) will not return. If this SmallLand game manages to be even 70% similar yet have more content than grounded, I'd say it will fare better in the long run. When I first saw ticks in grounded I knew I hit the end of the dev's creative strength, tons of re-entered same enemies, laaaaame....

combat in smalland is also stupid. you can try to dodge but they seem to just almost teleport to you and hit you. you can block but it takes so much stamina so i usually just use a potion and use the stamina to hit. the rolling seems to work sometimes but other times the creatures basically can teleport onto you anyway. its such a weeak game. it looks so awesome but dont expect more than 30 hours of play. look at the reviews, even the positive ones rarely have more than 30 hours.

smalland is smalland and grounded is grounded. how can they be the same! im still playing grounded till i got bored by being alone. if smalland have some servers that i can join in then i might switch to smalland then lol.
