Thanks for sharing your opinion about these carts, trying to decide on getting my son one for his birthday, this video really helped.

I'm glad it helped. I can't speak to the durability of other carts since I only own these, but I was pleasantly surprised with their durability. Thanks for the comment!

Watching you work around your place really makes me miss my old life. You are just as handy as my ex ever was! Hopefully once there is a vaccine available for this virus, I will visit. Take care. Hugs

Own/Owned many utility carts. And own the groundwork steel utility cart in this video. I needed a larger sized cart. And this was the biggest i could find. Went to my local tractor supply store. They didn't have any in stock , But said they could get me one delivered to my house for free. Usually they charge $100 for it to be shipped. Well it came and boy was i disappointed. Yes it looks almost exactly like the gorilla carts. But a closer inspection showed they used a thinner gauge steel throughout the build and they missed several spots where it should've been welded. And the areas that were welded looked like penguin having a seizure was the one who welded it. I had to go over a apply JB weld. Not saying gorilla carts are the best ever. But they are definitely better than groundworks. Another gripe i have was in 2023 they still want to use cotter pins instead of the better lynch pins.

Well done Jack, well done! [Ref: Jack the Giant Slayer] . Great review! I am considering a dump cart for my Cub Cadet XT1 LT46 for my lawn improvement project. I was looking at the poly dump cart and I know my work environment is nowhere near as rough as your work environment.

Honestly, I think both carts are great and it would be hard to go wrong with either one and if you're planning to haul soil or sand and stuff like that for your lawn, the poly cart is the way to go. Cheers!

thanks for your review, just started looking at carts. the ground work from Tractor Supply caught my eye. Don't know that I need 1400 haul weight, but the size is what I like. Need to move plywood and stud lumber from driveway to backyard. Neighbor's on both sizes, so no more pulling my truck around the back. Is the steel cart something I can leave in the weather ? , or is that something else I have to worry about, thank you, nice review and no B.S.

Hi Mr Livinsouth. Regarding whether you can leave the cart in the weather, I'm not positive. I usually try to bring the cart into the garage or barn whenever rain is in the forecast, but I have definitely left it out days at a time and haven't run into any issues. The cart is painted so as long as the paint remains intact it's not going to go to rust immediately. Hope this helps. BTW, I think that this cart would be perfect for handling sheets of plywood and lumber because you can remove the sides and lay your stock flat on the cart.

Good job with your video. I do understand these are the only carts you’ve owned. But maybe you can shed a little light for me. I’m looking for a cart to haul rock, specifically those weighing at least a couple hundred pounds. I’m a rockhound. I’ll be pulling over uneven terrain and possibly for long distances. And more than likely I’ll have assistance. The size of your steel cart is what I’m looking at. Gorilla makes a poly that size as well. My concern with steel is the added weight. My concern of poly is it’s durability (thickness). My question to you is whether you think poly could handle big weights. Could you imagine having the larger poly and putting it through like you’re doing with your steel? Also, the undercarriage for both carts appear to be similar. My concern is with the plastic holding up. Hopefully this makes sense. Thanks.

I wish these carts have a steering wheel to control them so you can sit down.

Underrated video. Great job man. I'm looking to buy the metal one for some work although I am wondering something. I have alot of gravel in my back yard that is pretty similar to the type of gravel you find by the railroad tracks. Do you think this utility cart can handle driving through lose gravel of that size? It obviously can handle rough terrain as you demonstrated here but what about that lose gravel? Also I don't have a tractor like you so i would have to pull it through the lose gravel by hand so hopefully it's not difficult. And I'm only planning on loading about 500 pounds per trip. This will be my determining factor to buy this thing.

Hi Eddie. Thanks for the nice message. I think the metal cart with its large wheels would be well suited for rolling over the loose gravel that you mentioned. I have loaded the cart with similar loads and have pulled them by hand also. If you have to go uphill it won’t be easy but assuming you’re on flat ground, it’s manageable. You just might get a workout - that’s all. The only thing is that you will need to figure out some way to keep the loose gravel from falling out the sides. But if you put some plywood sides to keep your gravel in the cart then you should be fine. Good luck with the cart!

I have to get the lot # off of the steel 1400 in the tow handle. Any idea which number that is? There was a number on the upper right corner of the sticker. Is that is?
@mikekim5135
@mikekim5135 3 жыл бұрын
Hey Paul, the sticker with the SKU doesn't have anything labeled as a lot number. The number on the SKU is 25571-01067. There is a small number 6 off to the lower right side of the SKU. Otherwise, the only other things on the sticker is the Model number of GW1400 and the Patent #s which I don't think you're asking about. Hope this helps.

Regarding the larger 1400lb steel utility cart. There's a rather large elephant in the room that you don't address that most other garden cart reviewers jump right into because it's a large issue: the rubber tires (I'm being kind, they are more plastic on some carts than rubber). Every Chinese-made garden utility cart has dry rot issues with the tires within months, i.e., I bought a Harbor Freight hand truck and had to change the tires after a several months because they just fell apart. They were more plastic than rubber which is the Chinese way. I almost just bought the cheapest Harbor Freight steel garden cart but after seeing all the reviews about having to spent another $50 for real rubber ties it didn't seem like a better deal. If this is a 1400lb Gorilla brand re-badged cart how are your tires holding up after two years? Also, do they have inner tubes? Thanks for the review.
@mikekim5135
@mikekim5135 Жыл бұрын
I have to admit the tires are not the greatest. But they do have inner tubes. I have gotten some flats and there is some significant cracking on the tires, but at this point, I've had the steel cart for over 4 years so it's not completely unexpected. I just use Slime tire sealant to deal with the flats and for the most part, that keeps them going. I know some people replace the tires with the solid tires, but I haven't had to go that route just yet.

As someone who has owned several utility carts , Yeah most will come with cheap pneumatic tires that appear to be stiff and have a more plastic feel. I generally swap the tires out with 13" solid rubber tires which isn't cheap.

Will it pull over a really rocky beach well?
@mikekim5135
@mikekim5135 11 ай бұрын
The wheels are big enough that it should allow you to pull it over a rocky beach, but less than optimal terrain will just require more pulling force. If you're pulling a light load of a couple hundred pounds - probably no problem. I have loaded my cart pretty full of freshly cut logs and it is possible to pull it by hand, but it's not easy. If you're pulling with an ATV or riding mower, it is no problem at all. I would have no concerns about its ability to handle the terrain - it's more a concern of how much effort it would take to actually pull the cart.
