Im completly confused by their reactions and even more by the way they described it. Spicebox? Vanilla? Fireplace warmth? Cinnamon? Amber? How did they smell any of these notes. I feel like they got a dupe or a batch that is so old that it went bad already, because no one described it the right way. Literally everyone, regardless if he/she is into perfumes or not, can smell the earthy-woody notes with citrusy notes. Especially the grapefruit/orange is so prominent that everyone notices it.
@DiegoLopez-fk5vo2 жыл бұрын
This kind of videos exactly detail how the world of fragrances works: 99.9% of people are NOT INTO fragrance and do not appreciate fragrances. Have them smell a Walmart deodorant and they would probably prefer that. That is why fragrance is a USER experience, not for compliments, not to please the others. Us, the connoisseurs, wear fragrances for ourselves.
@everardocalderon87202 жыл бұрын
Your comment is so accurate but for the population of the USA, Americans love everything so neutral, they prefer to stay in the grays and are not too risky, the Middle East has the best fragrances in the world, when I went to Dubai I noticed that people over there shower in fragrances that project and perform a lot, they love agar wood (Oud) a woody resinous strong note which most Americans hate.
@IEdjumacate Жыл бұрын
I wear fragrance a lot and never get any complaints. A few compliments every now and then but that’s it. I think most people don’t mind it or enjoy it if you’re not overdoing it. Fragrances also can get better on the skin & in the dry down, so blind testing on scent strips is not the end all be all determination.
@caspar_gomez Жыл бұрын
@@everardocalderon8720 because we're used to strong smells, food, loud noises, colours, salesmen all competing for attention, in the middle east there's no expectation of peace or personal space once you leave your house (or even in it really), it feels like in the west everyone would rather stay neutral and inoffensive as you say

Why why why whyyyyyyyyy do all review channels smell directly from the test strip?? It's too strong and you do not get the proper scent profile from the fragrance. Now I'm convinced the skin chemistry plays a very big role in how fragrances are received by other parties, whether by the sillage or how it smells in the air. It should definitely never be underestimated. No wonder some fragrance reviewers advise you spray some on your skin and walk round the mall before deciding whether or not to purchase it from the store.

It's more about smelling the fragrance in the air vs putting your nose directly on a fragrance. My Dior Sauvage Elixir smells so spicy and not in a good way if you put your nose on the skin you sprayed, but whenever I wear it, people absolutely love it. Some notes are meant to stay on the skin and let the other notes radiate in the outer circle around you and those radiating notes are the ones that matter 95% of the time. Remember guys people will smell the fragrance in the air, nobody's gonna rub their nose on your elbow to smell you unless you're with your date/gf.

You don't smell perfumes up close. The purpose of the video is not met. You should may be use 10 volunteers and make each of them wear a frag and make them enter the room and walk around, with the participants blindfolded or looking away. Even the dry downs can be tested this way. This will give a much better conclusion of how a frag smells (in the air is what should count), the sillage/projection/longevity and how the dry down is. You can also make it more fun when the participants finally see the test subjects. This will give a different dimension than smelling up close, which ofcourse many would find the best scents off putting. The magic of a frag is in the air. Just my opinion. Edit: Forgot about the skin chemistry factor. So may be the volunteers can spray on their clothes.

I'm really enjoying these videos. It's fascinating how different noses perceive each scent.

I never realized how much class and taste Courtney and Teddy have, despite their age, until I watched the opinions of this bunch of kids.

I love this series. I also just realized I hadn't subscribed (done now). I wasn't a fan of any of the fragrances picked in this one though, but it was still entertaining.

Great vid! I agree with most people's worst pick, the Dreamer smells like urinal cakes. Worst blind buy ever

I would be interested to see if their reactions to the same fragrances differed after a week or more. Even going a step further and applying their least favorites to see if they still felt the same.

I love this kinds of videos, because reassuring me that doesn’t matters brands, prices or notes the most important thing from a fragrance is the way that makes you feel and the memories that are coming out within.

Subtle and fresh wins the day yet again. Not that I think the beast mode compliment bros will learn anything from these videos.

Great video and format. I think it would be nice if you could pin the name and presumed note breakdown in a box in the corner.

The fact that so many of them say that Beau de Jour and Terre d'Hermes smell similar should tell you everything you need to know about the difference between fragrance collectors and the rest of the general population. Make no mistake, I'm not being elitist and saying that collectors are "better" in any way, I'm just saying that the average person's nose, that HASN'T smelled hundreds of scents and can pick out individual notes, is just very, very reactionary and reflexive. For this reason, I've learned that I pretty much just need to wear what I, personally, like, and really the only concern is just not to overspray in inappropriate settings. Hell, I even bought a fem-leaning frag for my wife, and I wear it more than she does.

For the mass public who doesn’t know much about fragrances, will most choose ones that smell less polarising and more pleasant. The more complicated and sophisticated smells don’t usually smell “good” as in you most likely wouldn’t want a candle of a it burning in your room. But it smells better on a person cause you associate that with his presence, style and personality. It’s almost a reflection of the person in scent form.
