Honestly why destroy good buildings that can be used !

The entire building will have to be renovated. That takes lots of $$$ And the issue of high Crook County property taxes. More $$$ to cost the owner.

What is the current updated status on this property? Chicago's turbulent track record with concern to it's preservation of it's historic and rare architectural gems leaves me with merited concern. With concern to celebrating and supporting Chicago's black community's history, this is a no-brainer; of course this house should be preserved! Yet arguably some of Chicago's best and most historically unique buildings were thoughtlessly and ruthlessly demolished without even an apology or excuse, so it always seems like a stroke of luck when one is saved.

Looks like it would have been a stunning home back in the day

Why would you ever demo these ?! An investor would gladly turn this around

That home should be landmark status...Plaque on it and all. If it were in NY it would be.
