This video aimed at A-level chemistry students, describes the different oxidation states that Group IV elements exhibit and explains the fact that the + 2 oxidation state becomes more stable down the group due to the inert pair effect. The video also discusses the use of Pb (IV) compounds as oxidising agents and Sn (II) compounds as reducing agents.
