India does not only mean Taj Mahal, Our India is like a library and the status of Taj Mahal is like a paper weight which is kept on the table of that library, whereas what is most important in the library? Exactly the books kept inside the library, And there are many more beautiful, amazing and ancient architectures available in India than the Taj Mahal. Even Taj Mahal is nothing in comparison to that architecture, you will know when you go there and see.

@यदायदाहिधर्मस्य-ढ2द It had more to do with accessibility. Delhi was the most accessible International Airport, which is why golden tourist triangle became a thing and places like Taj Mahal, Rajasthan, Varanasi became popular destinations. This fuelled creating stereotypes about India. Now that there is much better connectivity, tourist can go to western, southern and even north-eastern parts of India to see the massive diversity that India has.

Lol we don't have gun shootings unlike USA, yes there will be dark areas where you shouldn't poke your nose into otherwise you'll be safe and sound return with excellent memories, also you don't need special permits to move into other states other than your visa if asked by police or you are free to roam 29states and 7 union territories which has incredible architecture, history and art tied to it. patience is key to survive in India, plan everything while you are in USA get government authorized agent so wont get scammed and trip will be smoother. And remember you have an embassy and good people to help you along the journey!!

@r.j.f207 Sorry dude ... Indian government won't be able to do anything for people like you .. who are cradles of hypocrisy. Have you ever heard of a public gun shoot out incident in India ?!!!. In such a vast country with such diversity ... what you expect ? All Indians to be civilised and well mannered alike ... it's not possible in any part of the world ... even in USA. So if you want to visit India ... You need to have two things,... (1) an unbiased mind and (2) atleast a minimal level of common sense .. that nobody else in this world can help you with.

It’s a pity there is no mention of Kolkata (formerly Calcutta) and the rest of West Bengal, which have seen a rich European influence ever since the Portuguese, followed by the Danes, Dutch, French, and later the British, established settlements along the River Hooghly, a tributary of the mighty Ganges. A visit to Kolkata during Durga Puja-the largest festival in Bengal, if not in whole of India, now recognized by UNESCO as an Intangible Cultural Heritage-would have provided a vibrant cultural experience. They could also have journeyed to Darjeeling, renowned for producing some of the world’s finest teas, where the iconic 150-year-old Toy Train, still pulled by coal-fired steam engines, chugs through the mountains. This train, too, has earned UNESCO World Heritage status.

Calm down we all have Wikipedia. Besides West Bengal has been ruined by TMC for a long time. Let's not forget the incident that happened there not too long ago. Many states have leapfrogged with their development to become better attractions than West Bengal these days.
@somik2000
@somik2000 2 ай бұрын
@@anonymous-d4n1v Which states are you talking about that leapfrogged. Even Dholera and GIFT City of Gujarat is nowhere near Salt Lake City, New Town Rajarhat under Bidhannagar. It's India' best Smart and Green City awarded by Govt. of India. Just watch the videos on KZbin. Other states can be attractive because they are cheap but lack class. Kolkata has class and culture. Few factories here and there don't make states attractive; you need a whole gamut to make it attractive. Kolkata competes internationally and does not participate on national level. Kolkata has produced Noble Prize winners, Miss Universe, it's in the forefront of science and technology. Is there any City in India where Metro runs under a river? Titagarh Wagons of Kolkata produce all Aluminum body Metro trains for Pune and exports to Europe and USA.

Its a stupid program with skewed approach to show good side to a few dozens of people. A random tourist doesn't travel like that, particularly solo travellers. Govt doing nonsense approach instead of taking care of the core problems - which give rise tk the very "cause" about doing such programs. In 2028, another BBC/ Wpost arricle or documentary of day to day life in India will reveal what 3rd largest GDP is like...still !

LoL! Why you are getting tangled in your pants like that? Good Side? As if whole India is bad & whole US & other countries are good & perfect! Get out of your cave & start living in real world. Never heard any tourist or traveler, willingly going to another country, to visit their bad areas or something like that! So by your definition, few tourists visiting a famous destination automatically means, the government, civil society, society etc.... is trying not to address local issue & stops everything? A random tourist doesn't travel like that? Sure in your head! By your standard travelling agency & govt of Germany, not promoting N@zi camp areas is doing the same? Or the US government not promoting mass Sh00ting incident or homeless areas is US is doing the same?
