Toyota 22R And The Missing Casting Mark

I had a 22R in my toyota pickup and loved its simple efficient design. The motor was designed way better than the frame.

Best engine in the R series my opinion.81-84. The 1st "22r" engines made before the 22re's Some people think that's a hybrid. ITS NOT.

I made it caught up thanks for the videos I will try and keep up with you I always look forward to seeing your videos I take it that the one without the mark is the better block its to bad that it wasn't i would do a little more research as it mat not matter because your not going to need the extra oil lines if my poor memory is correct that casting is for oil return but I Cant rely on my memory my friend that was a Toyota nut would have known but he has past on and his knowledge is gone outher than the people who he taught and my is fading fast

That is an interesting point about that casting mark being possibly for an oil return location, I don't know, did Toyota ever put a Turbo on the 22RE?

@@groutaone I am not shure but my friend that has passed had a turbo on his last build and helping him build it I remembered there were oil lines in that area but couldn't tell you if it was that exact spot it's been a couple of years but it shure looked like that area he sold it before he passed and I can't find out who bought it I asked around but no one remembers he was importing parts for his builds it could have been for a overseas model that we never had available they do things differently in outher country's that never make it to America

Did some research and looks like Toyota did make a turbo version called the 22R-TE from 85 to 88, I would guess that casting area is where the oil return went.
