The Concrete Coast a series of films in which I walk the lengths of the concrete sea defences primarily in east Kent but who knows I may go global one day (I mean Sussex). I've divided the walks in to short sections and I 've tended to avoid the towns which I may cover as a distinct feature.
The places I am showing range from abandoned structures now being reclaimed by the sea to the more popular tourist destinations with cafés and lines of beach huts. Each has its own character and the different moods of the prevailing conditions can make for some intriguing moments. From a photographic point of view these locations can be perfect for a mixture of curious and minimal with a combination of order and decay.
These are not walking guides but if your are planning any coastal walk always check the tides, daylight and weather conditions before you start as well as letting someone know where you are going. Many of the Concrete Coast locations you will see have no guide rails, no steps and are raised above either the sea or exposed beaches and rocks. Some stretches are beneath cliffs with the risk of falling debris or have patches of slimy seaweed while some are frankly just in a poor state of repair.
