Well-done, planning on setting my own Aquaponic system too. Good to see others doing it. This is encouraging 🤠

the best time to start is now, let's build together.

For biological filtration use bio media, it’s a perfect solution for beneficial bacteria… Algae bloom, it is happening because u are exposing the system to direct sun light which helps algae to perform photosynthesis, though algae is a good source of food for ur tilapia as they are filter feeders but the algae will consume the nitrate and phosphate from the water which is basic essential to grow vegetables… these kind of system should some sort of green house to be protected from direct sunlight and pest…..

Really great thing you guys have going. I would recommend using perlite for the roots it cost more than grable but is better with a better surface for the roots and therefore give higher yield and much easier to work with and clean in the long run. It's also about making sure you control the environment and not letting unwanted stuff into the system. Think you should give it another thought if the plants shall have their roots covered with water all the time it will limit what you can grow and as you know there is different ways working around this besides that isent the number of plants compared to fish a bit low The more the plant is able to extrat the less filter and alge problem Every tiny spot where light reach the water is a problem Last don't put your electric components into a plastic thing there is air tight you will end up with condensation problems. You guys are doing a great job and combining plant growth with fish farm is the right way to go

Thank you so much for your input, this is massive for us and therefore we will look into solving them one after the other in other episodes.

@@LartmanFarms just remember that things that is cheap often are expensive in the long run and vica versa

@@LartmanFarmsif it's nitrate (ammonia) you are trying to control just put duckweed or water lilies in that pond instead of lettuce. They are water plants and they float naturally. No need for foam!

Awesome video bro. I suggest you put a number of small airstones in the cups to give the roots some stability.
@LartmanFarms6 ай бұрын
Air stones are to aerate right, but for stability I’m gradually moving towards a spongy material

brother, you provided excellent information, but if you are going to use thermocol sheets as floating beds for planting plants, it will pollute & make the water toxic to be reused for fishes....... use Polystyrene Sheets as floating trays
@abdulsalammuhammed14546 ай бұрын
you can use exfoliating sponge to support the lettuce, you add small at first, then continue adding till the plant germinated very well. the sponge is very light, it won't exert weight on the with foam

thank you so much, that's an amazing idea. We will look into it.

Could you please expplain a bit about why choosing Talapia over Catfish and if these are the only two options in your location
@LartmanFarms6 ай бұрын
For what we consume here it’s either tilapia or catfish for freshwater fish. In this setup we have tilapia
@Anil_Williams24 күн бұрын
Tilapia is the best one is a excellent hardy fish Catfish is second best as it's a hardy fish anything that is non organic & is highly porous in nature, so that bacteria gets the highest amount of surface area to settle in

How many tilapia can you keep in a tank

The airation system also needs air to avoid overheating.

Dear brother, please. Is it possible to raise catfish permanently inside this plastic water tank with a capacity of approximately one thousand liters? Or is it just a temporary period and it moves to a larger tank? If it is appropriate to raise them permanently inside the aquarium, what is the appropriate number of larvae until they reach a large and appropriate weight, because you are an expert in this field. Greetings and respect to you
@LartmanFarms5 ай бұрын
Yes you can raise up to 70 at maturity. Hence you can stock from 100 to end up with about 70 at an average of a kg in size

You should think about putting backup power to your Air to make sure even if there is Power outage those fish will have enough oxygen. Otherwise you can lose all fish if there is a power outage. Switching to DC air pump powered by 12V battery and Solar panel is more practical and convenient

13:00 lettuce is NOT a water plant. It's best to put water plants like azola, duckweed or water lilies without the need for any foam to float them. These water plants naturally float!

😮hi, Long time since we connected. Why glue aĺl your joints? Ok, some fitting dont match the pipes use plumbers tape. I done glue my joints. Your radialflow pipe, if you dont have the water covering the pipe do dont get full sucktion/syphoning effect due to air. I have my water top of the T . I dont use 90 bends use 2x45, get a better flow, 90 bend can block. Yours is just a small system, remember the pipe return from sump tanks will get poo residue build up on the inside of the pipe. I clean mine ever 2 mth - 3 mths. If you glue, you cannot clean you pipes. I prefer my water going tobth bottom of my mechanical tank, water coming up through my filters. Poo stays at the bottom. I would suggest you lift you filter out if the water design it like radial filter, U pipe coming up let it go down, outlet at the top flow into sump tank. Reason, when you lift your filters out, get poo dropping in sump plus you disturb the water while lifting them out going get poo in your filter tank. Why havent you painted your tanks? I put black screen netting not the mesh type over my fish. I see some of your water going green. Just a few notes suggestion. Rgds Peter

Hey Peter, it’s been a while. Thanks a lot for the tips. You are simply amazing. For the outlets of the radial flow settlers, they were cut months ago for another project and I decided to use them for this. This would have allowed us proper flow in piping. You mean l should cover the fish tank? I’m intending to use the shade cloth around the sump and grow beds and introducing filter feeders in the sump. Thanks for your input 💯🙌🏽

@LartmanFarms hi Do you fisk tank too. That's the most vulnerable. Better still paint in the cage, it'll last a couple of years, unless you use etching paint first then paint it. Shade netting not the shade mesh, like mosquito net, not dark enough stop sun rays hitting the water direct. Don't glue joint knock them on, know them off, save cutting putting new length in. Then use cupling in certain places. It's tipfor newbies or people expanding.
