Time/day stamps would be great. Like how long from sowing till the foliage appeared??

Hello! I would appreciate your opinion. I purchased bulbs in early Spring and planted them. I kept the soil moist and had them in the sun. After six weeks nothing happened, so I figured they were duds and purchased more bulbs and planted them in a different container. About 2 months later two of the 10 new bulbs sprouted with green growth, but no flowers for the rest of the summer. Meanwhile, the other pot which I had now neglected and not watered for months (just kept it outside in the sun) suddenly had four of the 10 original bulbs sprout in late October. I was completely shocked. I live up North. Should I just dig all of these up and dry them, and replant in the Spring? Thank you for your help.

Thank you for watching . If they still have green leaves wait for the leaves to turn yellow and the plants to die back before collecting the bulbs.

I suppose jars should have holes in order for the water to drain? Thanks

No I used the jar without holes so that I can use it indoor .But we need to be really careful when watering.

@@GrowGreenGarden - I picked out some bulbs today. Can replant the bulbs with the roots, or do I remove the roots and dry out the bulbs in the sun before I replant? My freesias always bloom late in March. If I can plant the bulbs now, when should they bloom? Thanks for your patience with all my questions. Regards.

@@GrowGreenGarden -it's me again, since I just pulled out the bulbs today most of them are "fresh" but got a few which are covered with what looks like husk. i have seen some commercially bought bulbs with husk-like outer layers.

@@robertabennaim6473 It's okay to plant the freesia bulbs which has roots on it. But if you want to keep the bulbs/corms for next season, allow the freesia bulb/corm to dry inside for about two to three weeks(not in direct sunlight) for curing. Dust the bulb/corm with some cinnamon powder(optional) or with any mild fungicide powder, before storing in a paper bag. Which plant zone are you located?

I just watched your video tonight. About a week ago I had wondered if there were glass containers with drainage holes to plant bulbs in as I thought it would be interesting to see what was happening below the soil (or find out if they are duds instead of waiting for them to sprout). I saw your comment that your jar did not have drainage and you had to be careful with watering. I live in Pennsylvania and will have to bring my pot in when it gets cold. Am I understanding correctly that I cannot leave the bulbs in the soil when I do this and just put the pot out again next Spring, and instead I must remove the bulbs and let them dry out? Thank you for your help!

Thank you for watching. I would suggest you remove the bulbs and let them dry out and replant in next season

Hey, I live inFL and I have purchased these from local stores. It is now the beginning of June. What happens if I plant them now? Or should I wait until sometime in October?

In warmer areas, freesia is best planted in the fall/autumn, so that the plants can develop a good root system and bloom well the following spring. Plant freesia bulbs in full sun and nutrient-rich, well-drained soil.
