I now know that as women age and enter into peri- and menopause, we should be consuming our body weight in grams of protein. If you are over 200lbs, seeking to lose weight, determine your ideal body weight, and consume that amount of grams of protein💪

One cup of chickpeas is probably about 250 to 300 cal And only gives you 15 g of protein 150 cal from chicken breast gives you 21 grams of protein In order for me to be plant base and not use protein powders, I would have to gain weight because of all the calories I would ingest to get those protein grams I really want to, but I do notice shedding of my hair I don’t want to be deficient

I see your point, but consider this: the benefits of plant-based eating extend beyond just numbers. Foods high in fiber and nutrients can actually boost your metabolism, helping your body absorb protein (for hair) and burn calories more efficiently, while also enhancing your overall energy. Personally, I’ve found freedom in not counting calories and focusing on a variety of nutrient-dense foods, and I’ve actually maintained stability in my weight, but ultimately, it’s all about what works best for you 💜
