Kochia is an excellent drought resistant herb best for summer season in gardens.Its common names are:
Burning Bush
Summer Cypress
Mexican fire weed etc.
Its Scientific name is Kochia scoparia or Bassia scoparia.
It belongs to family: Amaranthaceae
Order: Asparagales
The plant is native to Eurasia.

It can be trimmed and I think as a general rule of thumb rainy season is best for pruning any plant
