Thanks for the reminder to get my garlic planted! I should try the elephant garlic, I have tried many and have found the Red Chesnek to do the best in my climate so far. TeresaSue

Success with garlic has much to do with finding the right varieties for your region. Red Chesnek is a popular hardneck variety in the USA - best for northern regions, I believe.

How long does it take to grow elephant ?I've heard 2 yrs. Also is it more like an onion?

It takes about eight to nine months from planting yo harvest. I plant in October and harvest in early July.
