What are the differences in these two inverters? Both priced about the same, both provide the same power, and same battery size. Find out for yourself which one would work better for you.

Wish I seen your video before I bought growatt. My growatt never worked how it was supposed to out the box. I have PowMr and connected it and it immediately worked no issues

Of course, it's not going to work as expected. With only 3 panels each rated at 50 V, you won't reach the required 120-450 V MPPT voltage range. Under load, your voltage will drop to 100 V or even lower depending on the sunlight conditions outside. It's important to note that the type of battery you're using isn't the issue here. To achieve the necessary voltage, you should consider adding more solar panels to your setup and ensure that your PV voltage meets the minimum requirements. In your case, it might be beneficial to consult with someone who understands the specific requirements for proper functionality.

Thanks for the comment, however there are 2 sets of panels, each having 9 panels. Working to maximize the upto 500 volt maximum input from the Growatt.

@@byronyoung6759 If the voltage falls below 120 V or exceeds 450 V in a solar energy system using a Growatt MPPT inverter, it can lead to various issues, including reduced efficiency, inverter shutdown, and potential damage to the equipment. Here's a more detailed explanation of what can happen in these situations: Voltage Below 120 V: Inverter Shutdown: The Growatt MPPT inverter may not operate or generate AC power if the input voltage from the solar panels falls below the minimum specified range, which is 120 V in this case. In this scenario, the inverter's internal protections may prevent it from starting or functioning, as it's unable to operate within its designated parameters. Reduced Energy Production: Even if the inverter operates at lower voltages, it may not be able to efficiently convert the available solar energy into AC power. This results in reduced energy production and lower system efficiency, as the inverter may not operate at its optimal power point. Voltage Above 450 V: Inverter Shutdown or Damage: If the input voltage exceeds the maximum specified range, which is 450 V, the inverter may shut down automatically to protect itself from potential damage. This is a built-in safety feature to prevent overvoltage-related problems. Reduced Efficiency: Operating the inverter at higher voltages than its rating can reduce its efficiency. It may not be able to perform maximum power point tracking effectively, leading to energy loss and potential overheating. Inverter Damage: In extreme cases, if the overvoltage situation persists, it can lead to damage to the inverter's internal components, potentially rendering it inoperable. Repairs or replacements may be necessary, incurring additional costs. In both cases, it's crucial to maintain the voltage within the specified range (120-450 V in your case) to ensure the proper and safe operation of your solar energy system. Solar panels and other system components should be configured and designed to keep the voltage within this range. If the voltage goes outside these limits, it can result in reduced energy production, inefficient operation, inverter shutdown, or damage, all of which can impact the overall performance and longevity of your solar energy system. To prevent such issues, work with a qualified solar installer or electrician who can ensure that your system is correctly configured and that all components are operating within their specified voltage and current ratings.

My 48V inverter from Povmr burned out after 2 weeks of use. The fire did not happen only because it was the New Year holidays and I was at home. At the same time, solar cells were not connected to it, and the load was only 600 watts from the nominal value. Both the manufacturer and the seller are trying in every possible way to avoid liability and warranty repairs by ignoring requests. Now the reason is gradually becoming clear - devices under this brand seem to only look like Voltronic. The low price is apparently a consequence of the cheap element base and the reason for the lack of after-sales support.

What are you omitting here? Have you talked to POWmr? What exactly did they say? Have they requested you send the failed unit to them? Are you saying theydenied warranty? What is the current state of affairs?

PowMr also has a stackable version, it's about 350 usd less than the GroWatt. I'm looking at buying one, but haven't compared for quality yet. Watched David Poz's video on GroWatt, it looks pretty good but haven't seen any comparison. The 150V may not be enough to trigger MPPT on the GroWatt.

Yes used solar panels are great deal. Just because it's 20 years old, doesn't mean they are no good. Old panels can keep running for another 20 years easily with good care.

Can you explain the transformer comment a little more? If you stay in Europe you need a transformer with this inverter ?
@byronyoung67592 жыл бұрын
The inverter is producing 240 volts. So here in the US we use the transformer to step it down to 110 volts
@ilingwang11682 жыл бұрын
Since u never mention the model number of the Growatt u are having problems with. I looked at the Growatt site to see what would match the one u have physically and the technical specs u described in this video. It looks to me that u purchased a SPF 5000 US. That model shows an AC output of 230VAC. That is an European voltage, not for the U.S. market.

You are sopose to plug in the batteries b4 you plug in the solar panels thats why it blew the inverter
@byronyoung67592 жыл бұрын
Well yes and no, the batteries need to have power before solar. So 5e order goes batteries, Solar, then grid power. That’s not what caused the failure of the inverter, but thank you for your input.
@TheRenePirovano2 жыл бұрын
You use a transformer to get 110 volt, you're inverter sees a inductive load on its output. That's probably the problem of all your inverters. When your inverter output drops in voltage the transformer reacts by forcing a off fase higher voltage on your output. Normal grid doesn't behave like that. Buy an 110v inverter!!

A coronal mass ejection (CME) will produce far more damage to grid and networks than any nuclear weapon! Just about anything with microchips will fry, so maybe a low-tech inverter as a backup would be useful!

So this dude plugged 3 panels with open SoC 50v which are on theory 150v DC and he expects to have a proper functioning unit 😂,ok i think 🤔 he needs at least 350v open circuit from 7 panels with actual 270v to get 230V for EU.
@byronyoung6759 Жыл бұрын
Thank you for your comment, there are a total of 14 panel’s connected. 7 and 7, with a verity of 400 watt and 340 watt. Each run has about 1900 watts and 500 volts.
