Regular office paper is totally fine since people expect to write on it. Anything uncoated is important for writing on! Since you're printing at size, you don't need it, but if you plan on making smaller sizes or trimming off lots of bleed in the future, consider getting a stack cutter! I used to make notepads, homemade stapled journals, bookbinding work, and stack cutters saved me a lot of heartache. They come with their own set of challenges, though, and they're HEAVY.

Pink definitely works better. It allows you blue cup/laptop to pop vs with the blue it all blends

The stickers are so cute! I think a great idea for text is to make a font out of your own handwriting, it makes text look much more natural and unique!

Well sence uve asked. I feel like I haven't done much for my buisness lately, but it's because I'm not making products. I'm trying to learn to be kind to myself. I switched video editors, was teaching myself animation, and learning how to make my art look better. So I'm learning a lot instead of producing merch. I have a full time job as well. I cant wait to leave it but I have a long way to go. I'm trying to think of it as shoring up my foundation. I'm glad ur well enjoy the new printer. I'm a bit behind but binging to catch up.

I'm looking forward to seeing how you do with the homemade notepads - that's definitely something I'd like to do but I think I'd need a much better paper cutter than I have right now and that runs into the £100s. Glad to see you're back well rested! 🧡

Making notepads and books at home can be really fun! I recently found a binder machine at a thrift shop, with three different sizes for the spiral binding, and I am so excited to try it out.

I think office paper or "normal" paper is actually better for notepads! photopaper sometimes isn't really ideal for writing on with different pens (some pens end up smudging or don't stay on the paper nicely), so I think office paper really is the standard for notepads :>

Yeah definitely! I'm just so used to using photo paper for everything that I didn't even think about office paper aha!

Regarding making your pads, so I make and sell paper pads for paper crafting and I use the Koala double sided Matte paper which is really good £12 for 100 sheets and I am able to launch a desk pad which I am making myself (I didn’t buy an actual tool kit, I got two pieces of wood and some wood clamps, closet me next to nothing) but the paper I am using for that is the navigator 100gsm paper £10 for 500 sheets. My pads are designed to mess on and through away so I agree the paper doesn’t need to be the best in the world. But I found that the 100gsm makes it feel less cheap than 80gsm. Hope that helps 😊 also I have a canon version ecotank and I bought that so I didn’t have to outsource any printing or products because I have a small business and not enough income to cover massive manufacturing costs 😊

Hey Abi, cool video. Have you considered selling your planners as printables on Etsy first to determine demand and then branch out to printing on demand upon request?

Yes! I plan to launch them as digital downloads as well as physical products!

I'm curious does it depend on the type of paper you're using for the prints to last long? Because I've tried many times on different papers and all of them faded the artwork in just a few weeks. Or does it depend on the ink and printer. I use a canon printer and I've printed like 14 things and my ink is done already and it hasn't even been a month yet. 😂

I go into the settings before I press print and tick the "borderless" box. If you've already tried that then I'm not sure what it could be. but I hoped it helped!
