I live in the West Texas desert and have these in full sun most of the day and shower with a little water every day. Surprised they've done so well in this harsh climate but they made it through a 3 day deep freeze and 100+ temperatures in summer (It's difficult to find anything other than cacti to survive out here)! It's full of flowers and pouring over the sides of the large pot it's in. I will be propagating these now that i know they are so easy to maintain!

Yes, they can handle the sun and the heat. But I noticed that watering them during the hot days promotes new growth and keeps the leaves fleshy and glowing

thanks for your clear video. One thing I have now decided. I love the Aptenia Baby Sunrise in the green and pale stripe colour. However in my subtropical garden it took over,and I had to remove it. Now I will take cuttings where I have kept it in my succulent garden and do as you demonstrated, and then have these beautiful plants in pots.

My favorite! I live in Florida and it's beginning to drop into the low 40s so I have been taking it inside. But I have so many from propagation. My leaves do tend to kind of deflate and eventually go brown. Any ideas as to why?

It needs a lot of sunlight. Also, the flowers open when exposed to the sun, and close at sunset.

I'm not sure if you got an answer, but it is pet safe and people safe. Almost all ice plants/succulents are pet safe.
