How are my citrus doing? I've been growing citrus for three years in zone 7b Virginia. Growing citrus is challenging due to the fact that our zone is too cold for them but you can over winter them and you will be successful.

You have a great collection of citrus! Thank you for helping promote growing citrus even in locations where people typically dont expect that you can successfully grow them. Chickens always seem to find a way to make almost everything harder :) Happy growing!

Thank you for the positive feedback. We started growing citrus 2 years ago and so far it has been great. I think we all should invest in at least one citrus for our garden 🍋 I found inspiration in channels like yours 😊

I love the smell of citrus blossoms. Brings back childhood memories. We had a lime tree in Jamaica growing up. Too cold here for me. Enjoy.

Great job!! You’ve got a great selection of citrus growing. Meyer lemons are delicious. I want to grow blood oranges! Red grapefruit! Wow. I want to grow that too. Haha. I agree that it is worth moving them around. Full watch. Be well. - Colin

You've got a lot of fruit trees Raquel. Wow! It's a challenge growing plants especially citrus in containers. That's why I nixed the idea to grow my Satsumas in containers. I'm going to have a rolling greenhouse for them. Meaning that I've installed PVC hoops over them. The hoops will remain fixed through the seasons and I'll lengthen them in height as the trees grow. Then when it gets cold I'll put a heavy duty white tarp shaped into a sort of poly tunnel, but with closed entrances. I'm using light colored tarp hoping this will help to conduct some natural light into the structure. Then I'll use Christmas lights 24-7 to keep them warm and provide light. Pray for me😂. I have a back up plan like frost blankets and two bags just in case there's a really frigid one like a couple years ago. Don't forget to get tarps for your blueberry plants for when they begin to bud in late Winter!! When the buds are hit it can take down or severely limit your summer harvest. Happy planting and thanks for sharing.

I'm thinking we should do a "greenhouse" where the citrus are but not sure how we can do it, otherwise will have to roll them to the greenhouse. I'm excited to see updates from yours ❤

@@GardeningWithCoffee you and hubby get creative! If the space can accommodate hoops you can construct two or three semi-poly tunnels and warm them through the entire cold months with warm Christmas lights. We used to call them pepper lights back in Jamaica! I say two or three because the larger the structure the harder it is to keep it insulated and heated.

We bring them inside for winter but we also have one in ground, and we will use frost protection and lights to keep them warm.😊
