My understanding is actually most grocery store garlic is softneck because hardneck doesn’t tend to store nearly as long. In my experience my hardneck are always much larger than my softneck so super interesting that yours is opposite. Granted I’ve only grown it for two years 🤣

@@ChickadeeFarmDiva interesting. I wonder if it varies by state and region? I know here in Idaho it's illegal to plant grocery store garlic because they don't want you to possibly spread pathogens into the soil. So it could have something to do with that as well.

I grow elephant garlic and hardneck garlic I save colves from both and regrow...I grow about 1000 to 1500 cloves every year... i get big garlic...i been growing garlic for 6 years You had a nice patch of garlic ❤❤

Wow! That is amazing. Planning to do some of our cloves to grow more next year as well. Good to know we can grow so much.

@@afrugalhomestead I found going in a mulch type soil is what works for me in Ohio
I TESTED growing Garlic at 3 different depths and here are the results!
