Hi love your videos, quick Question, can i keep the berry white Hydrangeas at about 5 feet high, is that possible? Because I want to put a hedge of berry white Hydrangeas in front of some emerald green arborvitaes.

I really like the Berry White Hydrangea, but it gets 6-7 feet tall. If you cut it down and try to keep it at 5 feet, you probably won't get the beautiful blooms that you want. Each climate and soil are different, so I would recommend you visit a local garden center near you and ask for what Hydrangea they would recommend for your area that will mature at the height you need and look somewhat similar to Berry White. There are SO many nice Hydrangeas that you should be able to find a good one to fit the bill. Good luck and thanks for watching Prairie Yard & Garden!

Great information in this video! I bought a 3-gallon Original Endless Summer hydrangea almost 4 years ago late fall when it was dormant and it has been struggling since day one when it woke up the following late spring. I have 7 other different hydrangeas doing quite well in my garden but this one has never performed well. I am in zone 6B and protected it throughout the winter months but every year, a small bloom or two come up from the center, stems reach about 6 inches tall and that is pretty much it. Please tell me how to get this hydrangea to do as well as the other ones. Thank you.

To me it sounds like this plant might be in the wrong place. My husband dealt with a similar issue at the horticulture research station where he worked. He finally dug up the Endless Summer Hydrangea and moved it to a partial shade location. It had been in full sun, and he moved it to an area where it got afternoon shade from some trees and a lilac hedge. It grew much better and seemed happier there. I would also comment that this was the first release in the Endless Summer Series, and I think the newer varieties are much better and have improved genetics. I don't know what your soil is like, but a bit of garden fertilizer with a higher middle number like a 10-20-10 or 5-10-5 might be good to try too. The very best of luck, and enjoy those other Hydrangeas. Our neighbor cuts off and spray paints the old blooms red or white and uses them in Christmas arrangements in his porch pots. I like the natural brown colors myself. Happy gardening, Mary

Yes, I moved the Endless Summer from a sunnier spot to a filtered light area last March and didn't see much change however it was probably getting rooted in the new area so maybe this year/summer will be the charm. I hope so because I'd love to see this plant survive. Thank you for the great tips on using the spent blooms. You can never go wrong with any Hydrangea, they are my favorites!
