So thankful for your channel! I recently bought one of Sam Storm's book because of you guys. I'm a Youth and Young Adult Pastor. I don't want to be a practicing cessastionist anymore... This burden in my heart has grown significantly over the last month. I crave to see 1 Cor. 14:24-25 happen every week! For whoever's reading this comment, I'd appreciate for you to pray for me! I feel gifted at preaching, but I'd also love the gift of Knoweldge or prophecy. Regardless of wether or not God gifts me with more, I feel this strong burden to lead others into discovering their gifts. Please pray for me! - Jared

Watching this 7 months later…when I was 13 my parents felt the Lord lead us to uproot and move two states away to join a church that was alive, growing and moving in the spiritual gifts. So we did that. It was a tough, tough move for me right in the middle of junior high. It took my dad 6 months to find a job there that would provide for his family of 7 (and we moved before he found that job). But the Lord faithfully took care of us. And I can't imagine where my life would be if they hadn't done that. So I agree that moving to be part of a solid church should always be on the table!

32:03 I am the person and Pastor you’ve described. I’m actually walking through a teaching series in my church about the spiritual gifts. I’m Church Of God from Cleveland Tennessee but I don’t really have anybody around me that teaches or practices from what I see that can be a mentor to me. And I don’t really know what to do or where to go from here. I’m the youngest pastor in my area, but I know God is leading me in this direction. There is no doubt in my spirit that this is where my church has to go.

Instead of being slain in the Spirit, I got a powerful palm heel to the forehead. That hurt! It cause me to reevaluate my Pentecostal experience, renounce it, then my pendulum swung the other way into Cessationism and Reformed Theology. Now, I'm old. The only group of Christians in my city who practice the prophetic are of the hyper-charismatic camp. And I sure can't tell my husband and family to move down south to find a church. I love my church's emphasis on teaching and preaching the Word, despite their lack of faith in the gifts, and I doubt I'd be able to find another so very committed to the Word in addition to spiritual gifts. However, if our pastor retires, I'll certainly be willing to try churches that practice the gifts. What denomination is the best for a church that is very committed to the Word and simultaneously open to the gifts like y'all are and Mike Winger is. I'd love a Calvary Chapel, but I don't know that we have one of those. I stumbled on and have been developing my gift through the Word. God would put ideas in my head that I would think, nope, that can't be right. That's not what my preacher teaches, not what J Vernon McGee teaches, and not what Chuck Missler teaches. No way that's true. And God would keep on giving me this Word with a hefty dose of the Spirit each time. And so I started saying, I believe; help my unbelief. And then He gave me verse after verse after verse that shockingly proved to me that I was hearing from God and that He was of course speaking truth that almost no evangelicals believe. Blew. My. Mind. And he's done that dozens of times now, each time confirming with the Word that what He's giving me is far more consistent with the whole Word than current doctrine. Eventually I bought Logos and made tons of notes. Hundreds. Thousands. Not all prophetic but so many are. I am putting a book together with everything I have learned, but I have told a few folks close to me, folks interested in Revelation, and I've had positive feedback from all except my daughter. I probably shouldn't have told her! We are Baptists and so she thinks I've lost my mind completely.

Online prophets, Q /MAGA prophets are in no shortage lately and YES they can supernaturally be spot accurate with some prophetic words..yet in the same 45 minute video, they can utter absolutely unscriptural errors..(PLEASE..guys, though you HAVE addressed this misuse of prophetic gift..do it again!! And firmly!!!.... For it seems that literal pseudocharisma cults, awash in sophistry, are forming right before our eyes lately and being rewarded with 100s of 1000s of followers! @frankboston3377 what are familiar spirits? I was in a women's group, where it really felt like a normal Christian conversation, that I could have had with born again Christian sisters at my church. But it was at a LDS church, where I had been invited and wanted to get to know it for myself. Although I am absolutely convinced that the LDS Church ist not of the true God, I think there might be some true Christians there, as in any other church. But does familiar spirit mean, that that demon might make you feel the same kind of inner confirmation that you get by the true Holy Spirit? Of course I know, that the ultimate way to find out always is the testing against the Bible. Blessings!

@@chriscross5188 Thanks for your reply..I agree with you that there may be some of those in groups like LDS who could be sincerely wanting Jesus, though their church structure is in severe doctrinal error...how we need to lovingly pray for them!!..But your question about familiar spirits is important. I suppose the 3 brothers on RR could much better explain it, but as I've observed, through years and years of watching various spiritual movements, both charismatic/pentecostal and other groups like New Age or Hinduism etc, there are clearly times when a deceiving spirit that id NOT of God will cleverly imitate God's spirit and whisper into the ear of the supposed anointed speaker some true bit of knowledge about someone (like their family members' name or address or a birth mark or whatever) etc...Satan can obviously do that ,for he is familiar with us all, though he is NOT omniscient! And we humans are often so gullible that if we see that happen, we go bonkers with excitement and wrongly conclude that it HAS to be God, and thereby, we accept a "prophet" or teacher who is teaching horribly wrong doctrines as being legitimate...It happens far too often!

Only through humility can we step out in faith, (believe, trust, and hope) and in God , and for the right reasons, will we begin to be used by God. God can easily supply the supernatural. It appears that you may be having technical difficulties as my post has mysteriously disappeared, so I will re-post it. @kenbarber6592 Жыл бұрын
@@billyjacc • Great question, thanks. The Spirit must show you that, but I will share what it means to me: Without becoming gift-centered, focussing on the exercising of the gift, the gift will express itself in life through selfless love. Just love God and His children (all of humanity) and the gift will turn up. Hope that helps.

The context of this Proverb doesn't seem to be pointed at spiritual gifts and the verse doesn't actually say what you quoted. It says a man's gift will make room for him, or gain him favor from others in a sense. 1 Corinthians 14 teaches to pursue love and "earnestly desire" the greater gifts. Though well meaning that we should love people well and that is the highest commandment, it is also scripturally encouraged for us to seek the empowerment of the Holy Spirit to build others up.

@kenbarber6592 It is interesting because that is something that I have come to recently on trying to understand some of the amazing ways the Holy Spirit has been working through me. The why. Why do we desire Spiritual gifts? For the edification and salvation of others. When you see them hurting and love them so much that you surrender yourself to God to use because you know He knows all and exactly what they need for His will and purpose. It is easy to forget why we want gifts. Love and being humble in our inability to do anything without Him, I believe, is the "key" that allowed the Holy Spirit to work in my life.

What do you all think about me defying husband and going to another church? I would like to practice the gifts. My husband won’t leave his Lutheran church. Unfortunately all three of our children after they left home think Christianity hurts people. They are equating right wing politics and nationalism with Christianity. Looking back I think we emphasized information- theology over experience. My motive is wanting to show them and others that this is real, and not just head knowledge. What do you all think about me defying husband and going to another church? That doesn’t feel right, because he gets very angry when I talk about it. He sees church as the one thing we do together- it has helped us stay together now for 40 years. We were married in this denomination, I chose this, but I didn’t know I was promising to be Lutheran for the rest of my life. Also the church is slowly becoming more progressive. They still believe in the creeds and I know my husband would leave if they ever stopped believing in Christ as our risen LORD. They believe in the gifts, but they don’t pursue them.

Can you go to a different Bible study or service at another church at a different time than Sunday morning? That's a reasonable compromise. Also, many of our adult children have left church, no matter what the denomination. My kids grew up in Assembly of God, and one of them has stopped attending any church. So you are not alone in this. The best thing you can do is pray for your husband and kids. Ask that God intervene in their lives. It may take many years, but God is faithful. Meanwhile, find other outlets for your spiritual growth. It's what I had to do.

This is a decision that only you and God can make, and it is one that requires a direct message from the Holy Spirit. I have seen the fruits of the Holy Spirit working and it is worth any of thr struggle if God can use me to further His will and purpose. I so desperately want everyone to have peace in the Lord and get to see Him one day. God DOES NOT NEED prophets when a nation or culture obeys His clear commandments but, when instead it is disobedient. None of the significant churches, Roman Catholic nor Protestant, bear ANY relationship to the clear teachings of Jesus and the apostles. Ephesians Four states that God set in the Church; first apostles, to go out and make disciples world-wide. Next, He placed prophets, to bring correction when men failed. Then evangelists, to re-state the fallen guidelines, and lastly pastors and teachers to instruct the converted.
