Sprout Your Own Ginger From Any Store-Bought Ginger Root! Ginger is so easy to sprout, given the right conditions. The rhizomes of this plant are not only tasty and necessary in numerous recipes, but they can also be sprouted to grow entirely new Ginger plants, for free! In this video, I show you exactly how to grow your own Ginger plants simply from store bought Ginger bulbs.
This is a great project for growing indoors and for teaching kids how things grow, as well as the vegetative life cycles of root and shoot development. One of the best indoor projects that you gardeners can do as we wait for our garden beds and plots to thaw outside.
As a fully tropical plant, Ginger needs supplemental heat if you live in temperate regions or if your indoor temperatures are below 80F. Sprouting usually takes place within a week with viable bulbs, although the progress of growth at this stage can vary quite a bit. Give it a try, starting, sprouting, and growing Ginger indoors is highly rewarding, and most of all, super fun!

Perhaps that actually reflects that the advice/content is great but the peculiar speech distracts to the point where you keep wondering why he speaks like that more than pay attention. At the end of the day, it’s the loss of those who cannot disregard that because it really is a good video.

I just want to say you solved my problems in 9 minutes and 28 seconds. I love ginger. I eat the stuff raw. I wasn't getting anywhere this last few weeks. The insights of temperature and lighter soil were the missing elements. I got all the stuff to duplicate your set up. By the way, don't let anyone get you down about your verbal pacing or diction. I am sick of arm chair quarter backs sitting around critiquing everyone but hardly adding to the conversation. This is the best video I've ran into thus far.

@@kathybrinson7476 good on you guys! 3 raised beds is a pretty good effort. They can be expensive to fill too.. I was shoving everything organic in the bottom of ours. A tree lopper dropped out a load of mulch, so i half filled the bottom of the bed. I bought a bit of mushroom compost as well. so many worms now... Yes, would really love to hear how your ginger goes. This is the first time I've managed to get the ginger root stock to sprout. I pulled them up in April and even though they look like they where on a bit of a diet, they taste pretty good. It's nearly that time to try again. We're in our last month of winter here. I started some store bought ginger and decided to plant it because it was on sale. That was December and now it’s 2’ high. I used a heat mat I purchased and it’s still on. I water it twice a week. It’s in a 3 gallon pot. It’s thriving in a wood stove environment and it’s been cold. It only gets afternoon sun. I’m hoping to move it to a non heated green house in a few weeks. Great video BTW. I subscribed and hope to look through your videos and get some great tips. Blessings to you my friend.

I started googling if it's possible to plant it and well came across this video! Now, it's been about 2 weeks and it seems to grow nicely and I was able to see some roots appearing as well. I was struggling to find a place that's warm and light enough so I've placed the pot near the window that has a radiator beneath it so I think it's warm enough for the lil ginger.
