A nursery, located in the most arid and southernmost area of Europe, has managed to move forward with kiwi production, extending its plantation to new areas of Spain.
"Facing the challenge of cultivating this species for the first time and in extreme latitudes for its production, required a positive attitude". Didier Díaz, head of the nursery, affirms.
The kiwi is demanding, it requires a series of special features and conditions. On the one hand, it is a grateful crop because it has great vascular dynamics and an exuberant vegetative habit, but on the other hand it is very sensitive to the local climate.
This has required them to manage the nursery's environmental conditions very precisely, and forced them to invest in climate control in their facilities. To do this, they requested the services of the company Novagric to regulate irrigation, temperature, humidity and radiation according to the needs of the kiwifruit crop.
