Leave the plastic sandwich bag slightly open to allow air circulation until the seed germinates. After Potting: Remove plastic once the leaves emerge.

My mango seed germinated in less than a week and it is thriving at the moment using your techinque! Planted it about two weeks ago, it’s about 20 cm tall and has 6 big gorgeous leaves. Thank you!! (Where I live it’s about 35-40 degrees celsius at the moment, its super hot and humid)

i'm 61 and now live in Minnesota. Been trying for many, many years to grow a mango tree from seed with no success. Tried your method and now I have 2 little mango trees growing. However, it didn't take as long - I wrapped the seeds in wet paper towels, placed in ziploc bags and set them outside on the front porch but not in direct sunlight. It took only 2 weeks to sprout. The tricky part now is over wintering them in the house. Thank you for this video!!!

I’m glad I just saw this; I germinated my seed under a grow light, one of the two began spouting but I fertilized it too early; So I took it back out and am letting it sit longer out of direct sunlight, that should germinate it better .. ? And, when you bring it back in the fall I guess before frost and temp drops, would I just keep it planted under a grow light or does it go dormant ….. ? Thanks ; )

For a successfull sprout without mold, use surround wrap since it is not biodegradable. Paper towels attract mold. Place the seed in a mixture of hydrogen peroxide and water before placing it in a ziploc bag. Nest the seed in the rolled suround wrap and add some water. The success rate on this 💯

Hello neighbor! I'm glad you found this helpful. I noted in the comments and description to remove the plastic after the seed germinates but also to leave it slightly open for airflow. Remove the plastic from the pot once the leaves emerge. You can also plant the seed directly in a pot of soil, then cover it with plastic with holes for airflow. I hope it works out well for you! Have a great weekend and thanks for watching! Misilla

@LearnToGrow1 sorry I’m deaf so using subtitles which I’m grateful for but they said cover the root but when you water the Root was uncovered? Can you confirm I’ve just started two shop bought - I’m not sure if they will grow - my concern is they will have been picked before seeds are viable. But it’s fun. Thank you

Hi Darrell, You can start the seed now and plant it out in spring after frost. Slowly acclimate or harden off the sapling outdoors in a duration of about a week so it wont shock the plant.

@@LearnToGrow1 planted the second saplng to its first pot - it actually had a little stem trying to reach the sun, unlike the first one which had only a brown root when I planted it. The first one went into the pot about five days ago after approximately ten days of sitting in the plastic bag with the other, and now its stem has already popped out of the ground. I wonder what sort of light may help them developing during winter - will the standard blue&red grower's lamp be enough?

@@LearnToGrow1 you think so? My mom did her seed first probably almost a month of difference. She put hers on soil as soon as it sprouted. Mine was left in the napkin and I transferred to soil last sunday. My mango plant is 2 times biggers than hers and the leaves are alot bigger and stronger and greener. I'm not fertilizing or anything. I think maybe because her mango tree is inside, mines is outside and the speed of growth is different?
