I mixed cardboard spawn, straw and coffee and kept it damp for a month..here's the result.

At least you're feeding the snails, they appreciate it! The snails are rowdy in my new garden and they ate everything last Autumn, this year I'm going to try and grow them in bottles and buckets again.

Omg thank you so much!!! I can't buy spores without a permit so I'm glad I can have my own at home!! You're amazing 🥰🥰 . Edit; so when I prep my pots should I keep them in a covered dark space as well? It's very hot here so I was thinking I could make a tarp tent and have them in there with no / little light?
@radishesandtherest41523 жыл бұрын
You're welcome! Keep me posted! Yep keep them in the dark (think like under the forest floor.) As long as they don't dry out the temp shouldn't matter too much. When they come to fruit, that's when you'll need humidity and light. A fruiting chamber sounds like it would work for you x

Hello my lovely, I did a search for the straw and apparently it is banned in uk. :( is there any other way I can grow them please? Pretty Please? I send you much love and light.

You should be able to find it in a pet shop, failing that you can use cardboard, grass clippings, sawdust, even wood based cat litter. You can also buy wood briquettes from supermarkets etc like these...www.bioglow.co.uk/pini-kay-briquettes?Tom+-+SPAG+-+Scotland&hsa_kw=&hsa_cam=10864374613&hsa_ver=3&hsa_acc=6696862663&hsa_ad=457461943818&hsa_grp=112338181092&hsa_src=g&hsa_mt=&hsa_tgt=pla-311706830138&hsa_net=adwords&gclid=Cj0KCQjwvO2IBhCzARIsALw3ASofOQPISi3L_3Xcknr3beiFxhF6dXMiiSIHwit84qbHAY9IyIDJAPkaAhkPEALw_wcB Usually they come in packs of 5 from the supermarket. Message me on instagram if you get stuck. Lots of love

Can I use just an empty toilet paper roll? Also what if I only have one oyster stem and it doesn't have the root things? Is there a chance it can still grow?
@radishesandtherest41522 жыл бұрын
Hi Yes you can use any type of cardboard. Give it a try lovely, I think it will work and you've lost nothing if it doesn't sprout.
@michaelkinnen19482 жыл бұрын
Awesome I wasn't sure you'd reply lol thanks and I actually got some better card board from my neighbor so I think it will work. Also the reason I only have one stem is because I bought a gourmet blend of 3 different types Crimini, Shiitake, and Oyster from my local grocery store and it turned out they only had one Oyster lol I feel like I was scammed but if I can get one to sprout thatl be awesome and hopefully get more out of just one. I'll keep you updated on it as well. Thanks again and sorry for the realy long comment 😆 🤣 😂

@@michaelkinnen1948 Ahh that's cheeky you only got one in the mix! I bet you can make many more mushrooms from that chap though! I've had mycelium fluff on the cap of shop bought oysters before so I reckon your mushroom stem will become many in a few weeks! I've actually just found some abandoned fluffy oysters in my fridge so I willl do a really short video today for you to show how much oysters just want to grow!
@michaelkinnen19482 жыл бұрын
@@radishesandtherest4152 really that would be amazing thank you I love just listening to you I bet you get that alot 😆 Also mine didn't have that fluff unfortunately but maybe there's still a chance it'l take. I recently just started getting interested in growing mushrooms what I really want to grow is Lion's mane but I can't I dont think with out buying grain spawn or liquid culture. I've always had an interest in growing things since I was a child. Unfortunately I grew up in an apartment so not much room to grow things and my situation hasn't really improved since 😕 but I make do with indoor grows.
@radishesandtherest41522 жыл бұрын
@@michaelkinnen1948 Not to be a bad influence or anything but you can clone Lions mane too. It needs more sterile growing conditions than the rowdy oysters though. For the price of a grow kit or spawn..you could get some agar powder and you can rustle some little sauce takeaway pots as petri dishes (make sure they have pp5 on the bottom) you can grab a cheap pressure cooker on ebay or facebook sales (usually for less than a tenner) and you can then clone pretty much any mushroom you lay your hands upon. If that's not top warlock growing I don't know what is! what have you grown over le years and have you got any indoor/spacesaving top tips?! I feel you on the apartment grows, I've always rented and had teeny/no garden, it certainly makes you more inventive and the stuff you do grow tastes even better! Have you heard of guerilla gardening?

Can I do it with store ones? If Do I need the hall ones or peaces
@radishesandtherest41524 жыл бұрын
Yes if you can find oyster mushrooms at the store, cut the very bottom of the stem and pop onto cardboard. :) as long as you have some stem you should be able to propagate it
