My m-i-l taught me a tip on green tomatoes. Put them in a paper grocery or lunch bag and store in a dark place and they will ripen beautifully. Good for the ones still on the vine when frost comes in the fall.

This is awesome,as I'm at 5000 ft elevation in east Idaho and trying to figure out how to garden here after coming from zone 7 sea level.

Very nice garden. I'm at 8600 ft. Near Mt. Bailey. I have had very little luck in getting my seeds to germinate at this altitude inside.Is that a construction grade plastic you made the tunnels from. Thanks for the video.

Brian Chester construction plastic will last maybe 3-4 months, max. Pay for 4 year, 6 mil greenhouse film and be confident that it'll last. Above 7,500ft altitude, plants need approx 40% more nitrogen to produce as well as plants under 7,500ft. That's very rare knowledge, it has been hard to find but once you add extra N, you'll see greater results.

@@covid-19ispsychologicalwar10hi there, I live in Bogota at 7800ft, and I find my basil, and coriander plants (the only two I am doing right now) are not growing more than the two baby leaves.. have any suggestions? I am using soil but will soon try hydroponic with masterblend. thanks!

David Rainville you didn't give near enough info to determine what the problem is. I'd guess you need more light, I'd suggest a LED grow light that runs on 12/24v DC so you can run it off of a couple batteries and a solar panel to keep your cost input down. The sun is so weak this time of the year in N.America that very little will grow without extra lighting. Lights is what I'd do before I changed from soil to hydroponics (btw, a good organic soil rich in compost always does better than hydro)

Where I live in Colorado, we would call you a “flatlander!” 😉 😂 Seriously, we’re at just under 9,000 ft and would like to start growing vegetables, but are a bit nervous about our chances of success. So far, we’ve stuck to perennial flowers. Maybe you could do a video on *very* high altitude gardening? . . . Subscribing with fingers crossed! 😁

How do you hail proof the garden. I can’t quite see what you are using? Thank you

I would think that the bed needs to be deeper given the hardness of the soil?

I live in Castle Rock. What's the best time to start tomatoes indoors for transplanting later? I'm wondering if I'm starting too late.
@shirleybecker4955 жыл бұрын
I start mine in early Feb. and keep them safe until the weather permits hardening off.

diatamaceous earth is a good way to deter bugs. It's chemival free too!
@kimstorozhuk80918 жыл бұрын
oh wait, it might hurt good bugs too... I'm not really sure
