Peppers Make Wonderful Container Plants! In this video, I show you right from seed how to grow your own Peppers plants right in 5 gallon or larger containers or pots.
Peppers germinate well and transplant even better. Let's do this in two stages where we first germinate the Pepper seeds using two different methods, then move those seedlings into a 4" transition pot, finally making it to our large pot or container 1.5 to 2 months later.

@@pamelaleitman9200 Hey Pamela, cherry tomatoes you CAN get away with a 3-gallon container. Ideally 5 gallon is better, but if you can liquid fertilize with a seaweed extract or even a compost tea around the half-way point, you can grow very very nice crop still. Definitely!

Another great video 👍 I live in the Black Hills of South Dakota. It's so challenging to grow here. Absolutely nothing is easy to grow due to the cold cold climate and drastic weather changes here. I grow in lots of containers. I transplant into a raised bed covered in greenhouse plastic. I also grow straight from seed in my raised bed. Just last week it was 70's here in the mountains and then this weekend it's trying to snow again. I love to garden and even more love growing my own food. I like me knowing what it is I'm actually eating. No GMO or harsh not necessary chemicals in my salads! I use heirloom everything to so there will be a next year. People up here say it's next to impossible to grow herbs vegetables and fruits. If I can do it and I'm no expert, anyone can do it. I'm getting good results with my garden. Brother you share some awesome 👊💪 tips on here and sometimes as I get older I forget those little things. That tip on mulch and helping to ease drastic temperature changes it does work. I use mulch and I use it in my raised bed to help curve those cold nights and allow my plants a fighting chance to live and grow. Up where I am I've only got pine needles and left over pine cones from the squirrels eating the pine nuts from them to mulch. It all I have for right now I'm adding here and there when I can occasionally get grass clippings or leaves. In my area it's just not readily available to me. Someone told me using pine needles would harm my garden but I haven't seen it harm anything yet?. If the temps drop. When my raised bed is covered it may freeze the mulch on top over my seedlings but it doesn't reach down and freeze the soil or the seedlings by mulching everything. I may even get a leaf on the biggest plants froze here or there but the roots don't freeze. They make a quick come back. As for my bucket garden I have tomatoes growing in buckets right now and they have done good with mulch and if I know the temps are gonna dip below freezing I cover them or simply bring them inside. Thanks for the morning coffee update and thank you for sharing ❤️👍 I look forward to seeing you again. God bless and have a great day.

That is a challenging location to grow....no question. You REALLY have to be on your game, which you are! Zero room for error. Ha ha! Peace to you and yours, stay safe.

After watching your wonderful video I started with planting the onion from the onion and I have the roots on my onion and I'm planting that in the soil today. I am next going to start the avocado seed and I have three peppers planted in pots before I've saw this video so we'll see if I did everything right. I grew up in California where you can grow just about everything but now live in the Nevada desert So it's quite different in growing a garden. My garden in California was bountiful. Last year my desert garden didn't do too well. Not really sure why. I had made afternoon hot sun covers for my three vegetable boxes so the veggies weren't fried from the sun but I guess that didn't help. So it's quite a learning experience now. Love your channel and have learned some new things that I will put into practice. 😍

Hi Ripe Tomatoe farms, New Sub here, I absolutely love the concept of gardening and since I only have a small space I have tried for years to grow tomatoes, Jalapeños, watermelon, potatoes etc. in containers with no luck, my hubby says my brown thumb is costing to much, since I found your channel I am going to try one more time, wish me luck🤞

Hello. This video is great. I put pepper seeds in a pot about a week ago and they haven’t still germinated. I again put a few more seeds in the same pot to see if I will have any luck. Also, I am using only miracle gro potting mix. Is that good? Or should I mix any garden soil to it? Please let me know!!
@TheRipeTomatoFarms
@TheRipeTomatoFarms 4 жыл бұрын
Hey Neha, I usually steer clear of miracle grow stuff, there's a lot of chemicals in a lot of their products. Peppers are funny sometimes... They can take up to 3 weeks to germinate. Just make sure the soil is moist, but not wet, and that you keep the temperature around 80-85F.
@nehav9947
@nehav9947 4 жыл бұрын
Thanks for replying! Can you suggest a potting mix that can be used for veggies. Is there anything which is ready to use. That is mixture of garden soil, cocopeat, etc.?
@TheRipeTomatoFarms
@TheRipeTomatoFarms 4 жыл бұрын
@@nehav9947 Hey Neha, I usually just make my own: kzbin.info/www/bejne/mYGQaJJtjrlsoM0 But there's a million brands out there that have potting and container mixes ready to use. Usually around $3-5/bag, your local home improvement center or nursery will have unlimited choices. Cheers!

i always add lime to the pot for calcium before the mulch. no end rot and super green leaves.
@TheRipeTomatoFarms
@TheRipeTomatoFarms 4 жыл бұрын
Hey Frank, I've been finding over the years that its not to much the Calcium that is causing the blossom end rot...its the inability to ACCESS the Calcium in the soil. Usually caused by the intermittent watering. I know people love to add the Calcium, but I'd caution people adding lime blindly, especially if they are battling an alkaline soil.
