Astilbe are beautiful shade to partial shade-loving perennials (some varieties will even grow in full sun in cooler northern zones). Astilbe will add color and interest to your gardens or shadowed areas of your yard and they come in a variety of colors from vibrant red to pristine white, and the dark green foliage resembles the fronds of ferns. They prefer well-drained, moist, rich soil and are very sensitive to drought conditions.
