Barbara, You need a male and a female tree. The male variety is called "Peters" and the female variety is called "Kerman". Get one of each and plant them within 12 feet apart of each other and you will be enjoying home grown pistachios from your own yard.

What kind of fertilizer you use for your trees? Thank you

Masoud, I use a balanced 10-10-10 fertilizer for my pistachio trees. I used a rich soil mix to get them started but after that they need fertilized no more than once a year in early spring. The trees are very tolerant of poor soils and are very adaptable. They are also drought tolerant. Be sure to follow us on Facebook for updates and similar information: facebook.com/southwestlivingtv
