I throw throw them in almost every stir fry dish I make. Somehow their taste seems to blend in with just about everything Ive thrown them at so far.

I wonder if the soil is necessary. Such a brief grow, I wouldn’t think the soil adds much. Wonder if you could just grow them like sprouts instead.

I sometimes use one to sweeten my tea, but haven't really figured what to eat them with either. 🤷🏻‍♀️ I'm happy just to munch on one in the depth of Winter, because they just taste like Summer. 😎 As a Canadian, just chewing on one as I'm puttering over my Plants inside in Jan/Feb is benefit enough. It's pretty cool to be looking at, and Loving your Indoor Winter Garden, while seeing the Winter Wonderland outside your window, and have a tiny Popcorn 'stalk' hanging out your mouth, kinda like Chewing Tobacco, that tastes like Summertime. We should make that a Winter Mental Health thing. 🌱🍿🌱

I was thinking for the mold issue , I would soak the Popcorn in hydrogen peroxide 3% for about an hour or two, then rinse, it kills bacteria, and aids in germination.

Mold is fungus, not bacteria; also the soil itself has fungal spores (and the air, too. they're everywhere) so just treating the kernels wouldn't do anything. Poke some air holes in the cover, put a fan on low speed from a distance away from the shoots, and this will stimulate wind and deter mold. You'll have to water them more consistently though.
