You’ve inspired me to start growing some in southern CT, I never thought about these trees being viable here before!

Hey there, i’m going to try yucca rostrata in my garden. I live in 6A in Massachusetts. Do you have any tips? I want to get a small plant and let it grow in the ground. I’ll probably do a blend of sand, pea gravel, palm citrus cactus, and native soil. How should I protect it in the winter and do they tolerate lots of rain that we get? Thanks

thanks for the update! They look great!

Likely the last season I can protect them if necessary. 🤞

@@TimsZonePushingGarden It definitely gets a little tedious when they get bigger!

Hopefully they won’t be little for much more time!

Wow, they are really growing! At some point they will be too large to protect in the winter... Hopefully they will be will established enough to withstand more cold by then.

They should be a tad hardier now since they have been in the ground for 3 years. I don’t have high hopes for them in my climate but it’s been a fun experiment.

THinking about doing this but with a normal Coast Redwood... not high elevation because of my lower alt. 670ft-450ft, but 6a or b in Cincinnati. Probably should root some suckers off the big one.

Definitely give it a try!

Does anyone know how these go in subtropical climates like northern FL? How drought tolerant are they also?
@TimsZonePushingGardenАй бұрын
@@19jacobob93 I’m not sure if they will like northern Florida or will tolerate droughts. There are a couple of specimens in Pennsylvania other than that they aren’t grown much on the east coast of the USA. Hopefully others can chime in.
