Just absolutely no godd@mn motherfu€king idea at all. There was this feeling like everything would get better past 2009. Space travel would increase, we'd get more big budget movies on par with LOTR, video games would get better. Oh how naive we were. Idk, maybe others would disagree with what I just said. You're free to think that way, but I just can't help but think we've been in decline since the mid 2010s.

Born in 1999 (2000s kid) I grew up with VHS/DVD, CRT TV/CRT Computer. I didn't know the iPhone came out in Summer 2007, because the entire late 2000s had people owning cellphones, flip phones, blackberries, and sliders. My family didn't get Dish Network until 2009. We were stuck with Standard television. If anything I think of the "2000s" looking like digital clock font. LOL Remember when flatscreen TVs were expensive af back then? They also had bad picture quality and color. Yo, those were about $4k to $5k.

94 kid here. I consider myself more lucky due to experiencing the 2000s with more self awareness and being able to watch all the Disney Movies in theatre. But the biggest change to society was not the introduction to the internet, but the fact that children from 3 years old have full access to it. There's a massive switch in intelligence, respect and attitude in our society when that happened. Kids who were brought up with cable TV and movies were actually learning lessons in life, always taught how to be a better human being and how to identify and deal with the antagonism of life. Now kids here are watching and embracing Huggy Wuggy and smile when they watch someone die in Squid Game. It's a very unhealthy direction we're going in.

@@zombifiedpariah7392 Gtfo. Kids never had access to gory virtual gutting or literal GTA torture missions. Nor did they had infinite access to seeing whatever they wanted on the internet to hear all the bad disrespectful advice and swear words galore. Are you also forgetting the fact of the graphics too? When we played Mortal Kombat 3 when we were 10 years old, the 'gore' looked comical because of the low pixels. Now you have kids AT FIVE YEARS OLD watching Squid Game and the goriest shit from realistic graphics. Sprinkle in the horrible influence of the FNAF KZbinrs, streamers with no parental guidance and you've got yourself a massive problem for the future.

I was pretty much a mix of both. My family had high-end plasma TVs in their rooms, consoles that were almost a decade old at that point (PS2, GameBoy, Nintendo GameCube, etc.), satellite TV (including HD channels), laptops that were on the verge of becoming obsolete, and Wi-Fi that was around 10 Mbps, which was pretty much luxury back then.

The homemade games with the friends was the best. My 3 favorites were using almost an entire box of chalk to make a huge gameboard on the driveway. And we’d be the pieces and write stuff. Whether it was “move forward 3 spaces” or “throw a dodgeball at the person closest to you.“ if you were ahead of them and got hit they moved back. If you they dodged it, you’d swap spots. Was like a penalty kick in soccer. Had to guess which way they’d dodge. Our homemade game was a mix of basketball and capture the flag. There was a halfway point. And one ball. You had to throw the ball into the trash can. If you got tagged with possession it was the other teams ball. There was a goalie who has a circle (made of jump rope) that he couldn’t stand in and if he jumps and blocks but lands in the circle. It’s still a point for the other team. We called it… the ball game. Another was a twist on kickball/baseball where we used a big bounce ball kneel. And use that as the bat while the other person threw a dodgeball at it. Ghost runners and stuff like that if you didn’t have enough people. We called that one bellyball. Then you’ve got the classics like sardines, manhunt, kill the carrier, and backyard sports. And my favorite was always four square. Nothing better than four square with the top dog making the rules.

Based on that comment about how you used to watch "Cars" from the time you were three, I can assume you're considerably younger than me because that movie came out in 2006, so I'd assume you were born in '03. I was born in 1996, yet I find I have a lot of overlap in terms of nostalgia and childhood experiences with people were born quite a bit after I was. I always find it oddly charming when someone like eight years my junior still resonates with the same stuff I do.

I was 7 when the 2000s hit so I remember quite a bit of this. I got a game boy advance three years later with copies of shrek and spyro season of flame. We had a ps1 and a sega Genesis( sonic 2 and crash)i got an sp for my twelfth birthday. I didn't get a ds until 2009 for my sixteenth birthday. I always got consoles late but I think that made me appreciate them more. I remember my family bought happy feet without realizing it wasn't a dvd but a blu ray back in 2007. We'd never even heard of them until then. ( probably because we had no internet) I got into manga that year after reading and rereading volume 2 of naruto as well as warriorcats.. Got obsessed with pokemon mystery dungeon red rescue team and stayed up when I wasn't supposed to. Highschool musical was everywhere. 2008 was the year I got heavily into anime( was already a fan of sailor moon, pokemon, and digimon). It was also the year I hid our VHS tapes because my mom kept throwing stuff out. In 2009 while I was at highschool she threw out my gameboy advance boxes for pokemon sapphire, emerald, mystery dungeon red rescue team, yoshis island advance, and sonic advance . I loved looking at them and they always gave me artistic inspiration. I still have the manuals for pokemon emerald and yoshis island. They were thankfully tucked away in my trading card binder. A year later I moved to my grandmas house and during my time there in 2011 for my 17th birthday she got me pokemon soul silver with a pokewalker. My grandma never threw away the box back then. I still have it and the game. I'm thankful she never invaded my privacy or 'cleaned' my room for me. It made me feel safer and like I actually owned my favorite things.

Yeah if the TV signal was glitching out and you got that wonderful white static going on you just hit the side of it and it will be all better. Also changing the position of the little TV antenna on the top of the TV helped too.

I can relate too but the only difference being I never owned Beyblades or had the old PlayStation 1 or 2 and I lived on a acreage I didn’t see my dad too often because he was overseas fighting in Afghanistan my source of entertainment was VHS, movies, action figures, and my brother and sister to keep me entertained as well as my grandparents. I had a lot of good times back then I still do now but it was a lot more nostalgic back in the day.

I was born in 1987. I had a largely good childhood in the 90s (except 1997 when I was mean, resentful and shut myself off from a lot of stuff) but because the “only” school and college I could go from from April 99-June 09 both required me to board, the 2000s were a TERRIBLE decade for me! Don’t get me wrong, I did enjoy a lot of the games, TV and film that came out during the 2000s, I still consider the original Xbox to be one of the best consoles ever, but boarding made me feel a lot less free, they tried to indoctrinate us into thinking learning was the only important thing in life and they largely didn’t accept modern young people for who they are! While my efforts didn’t always work, I did fight back here and there! I actually did a whole video on what college was like for me from 06-09, you may want to check it out.

I was born in '03 middle class. bayblades, bakugan, thousands of Pokemon cards, I used my imagination and played with vhs tapes and used them as busses. thought they looked like them ngl don't question it. Nintendo dsi, I really wanted that robot that everyone had but parents said no. off branded legos, xbox 360, Nintendo wii, watched shows like ICarly, Drake and Josh, Kim possible, ben 10, fairly odd parents, phineas and ferb, victorious, pair of kings and so on. the 2000s will forever be the best times in my life.

Think I was rather lower than Middle Class Gen-Z But I had some bakugan, a Box Tv That I'd watch some VHS's with like some girl, a yellow stuffed bear with tiny wings on it, I would just sometimes play on my GBA, Or DS or Gamecube during that era, wasn't really a positive time for me, but it was a experience for sure, just growing up with a GBC or GBA or Dreamcast, playing something like toy commander it was amazing, I miss them times now and then, but I still play DS, GBA games now and then, Used to use a crappy pc or Laptop I think as well to play Whirled, Chat to others, when I did have to go outside, I just went to school, talked to the people that knew me, which was like one or 2 friends, right up to when I went to college, to then play runescape, minecraft, good times. Forgot about Wii sports, or wiifit, used to go on that too, same for my cousins PS2 at the time, since we couldn't afford that, played some DBZ, its how I got into anime in a way, used to just watch Digimon, Pokemon, YUGIOOOOOOOH, If you grew up alike I, please let me know, or something alike, I gotta know. Also Forgot when I used to play Gamecube on a Box TV playing super mario sunshine or sonic heroes or that futuristic motorbike game, with weapons, boost forgot what its called but you'll know what I'm on about, sorry for the huge comment putting here, but I thought I'd just share my 2000's like era since I was born around 1997.

I miss the 2000’s so much. My generation was the last to experience times before social media and cancel culture took over. Although we had the internet and stuff like KZbin and Google, it was all perfectly balanced and it didn’t spread so much hatred for all to see. What defined the 2000’s were the shows we grew up learning from such as Blue’s Clues, Little Bear, Maggie and The Ferocious Beast, Jimmy Neutron, Oobi, Rolie Polie Olie, and so many other classic shows. Good times! 😊

Truly, a beautiful era in time to be a kid. School was all you had to really worry about and maybe chores, but life was mostly so care free and fun. Things in pop culture from that era still are icons to this day. I don't see that nowadays with passing internet memes or whatever is popular now, instantly gets replaced after a few days or even hours.
