KickThePj My last video I uploaded was about growing up. I called it Peter Pan Syndrome. I gave some pros and cons, and it's a good motivation for people having a ruff go at growing up. I'm 23, so I'm at the young adult stage. Still have a bit a growing up to do, but I know that when you are a teenager that there are so many unanswered questions. More people need to talk about this topic. I certainly intend on doing more-so if the near future. (^_^)

Great video Brittany! :) It can feel like there are loads of unanswered questions about growing up, but the more we talk about it, the more answers we can find, and help each other out along the way!

When I was younger, about 8 or 9, I started to hit puberty. I was earlier than everyone else, before we even had the talks at school and stuff and I was really really scared. I got teased by my piers for having boobs as it was mistaken for "being fat" and before I knew it I was getting spots when everyone else still had baby soft skin. Then when I got to secondary school, I was the only one with womanly curves because of my early development and I got teased and had unwanted attention then too. Now, everyone else has caught up and I feel completely normal. I am 14 and for once, I'm not the only one being mistaken for an 18 year old x

+Hanz Bananz Hey, it sounds like you had a really difficult time when you started going through puberty. It's great to hear you're feeling a lot more comfortable now. Puberty can be gruelling but it doesn't last forever! Thanks for getting in touch.

I think I’m the only one that wants to grow up. I’m imagining what amazing and important things I would be able to at least try as an adult, but never ever as a kid. I suppose I’ll change my mind once I get there though, I’m pretty sure every adult wishes they were a kid again.

Growing up is at first quite difficult (as like any new experience brought about by life). However, we do get used to it...sort of... eventually. Thanks for the video PJ!

For the first year of my going-through-puberty, I thought the stretch marks on my legs were scars I got from wearing these tight jeans. I don't quite know why I thought it, but all through that, I was embarrassed and ashamed to show my legs, scared that someone would point it out.

I'm guessing that depression comes with puberty..? But I've been like this for about 2 years now and I'm only fourteen. Everybody in my year is super happy, then there's me, stuck in the mud. I have been a little bit more happy for the past few days but that's how long it's going to last, just a few mere days. I try, I really do, I try to be happy, accept new opportunities because that's life, ya'know? But then there's this weight on my shoulders and thoughts saying negative things, which I know that aren't true. But sometimes the sadness overwhelms me and I just give in the that one emotion. But hopefully this era in my life will pass and leave me happy in the future.

You're right, puberty is really good at making us feel a lot of emotions all at once, and sometimes these combine to make us feel a bit down. It can feel like everyone else around you seems super happy all the time, but we all go through those ups and downs, so it's important to remember that you're not alone. :) If you're feeling down a lot of the time though, it can be good to talk to people, maybe your friends who might be going through the same, or your parents (they've been there!) If you ever want to talk to someone else ChildLine are really great at just listening, or giving advice, and you can get in touch with them online at www.childline.or.uk or give them a ring on 0800 1111

Hi Ola, going through puberty can be an emotional time with lots of bodily changes and its fantastic to hear that you girls are getting together to support each other. But remember everyone experiences it slightly differently, so why not take a look at the Lili's tips that she's put together for you all! riseabove.org.uk/article/what-is-happening-to-me-puberty/

Loved the visual aids used to demonstrate the simple complexity of growing up and reaching puberty in your teenage years. The theme park ride metaphor was a nice touch, if not extremely true. (After all, don't we spend roughly 40% of our childhoods wishing we were older or finally teenagers?)
@riseabove
@riseabove 9 жыл бұрын
But then don't people always wish they were young again? It's all a bit complicated, but it's good to know we all go through it!
@SamgirlSpeaks

That's correct. It's the paradox of growing up...we need to learn how to appreciate and enjoy the ages we currently are.

Although my growth spurt didn't include getting much taller (I'm five feet) I definitely developed a lot in other places! Thanks for being great, Pj! Love you

+Phoenix Flame Hi, becoming a teenager can be a scary and challenging time but try not to worry! Mood swings are common but as long as you know why you are feeling that way you can deal with them! Being a teenager doesn't change who you are you are, you will still be you just a little older!

Ok so a 'Normal' Teenage Girl would start puberty and go through what girls go through.... But I have a condition called Neurofibromatosis which basically mean you have these weird tumours ... I hate having it as the tumours are on the part of my brain that effect Hormones (puberty) so when I last went to the hospital they said if I haven't shown signs of puberty the I will be put on Medicine to help me... It took a lot for me to say all about this so please don't say horrid things 😰

When I was a child I was always short and underweight, then when I was thirteen I was a bit pudgy and almost average height for my age, and now at twenty I'm... still the same height I was when I was thirteen (fingers crossed for a late growth spurt?), but my body actually makes sense now. I still deal with the anger problems, but I have more self control. Puberty sucks, but you get to come out of it being wiser as PJ said, as well as being super hot. So you can look forward to that, teens!
