I'm an Aussie of Scots-Irish-English descent but I married a Highlander and had two bonnie wee boys. OMG, everything you said resonated true with how these two grew up! We didn't have bannisters but lived on a farm in a forest and they'd go and get sticks out of the forest and make swords, or get galvanized poles, broken screen doors, pieces of old copper pipe or whatever and make swords. And the chocolate wrappers thing, and my response, punishing them both cos I couldn't figure out the truth! Oh my husband wasn't just a Highlander, he was from Maryhill, Glasgow. and he died when my younger boy was 3 months old so they didnae learn any of this shite from him! It had to be genetic! I was trying to raise them in an English Hippy type way and it somehow didna work out like that. They got raised more like Appalachians (descended from Scots-Irish migrants back in the day...), I think, because they were pretty wild and didn't understand hippy niceties like "Don't fight!" Yeah, the "Peace Love and Happiness" thing never quite washed, somehow. They were too busy trying to perfect their MMA moves and learning how to wield a "claymore"! But it's all worked out well. My boys are now 15 and 17 and are good honourable young men and if anyone were to hurt their Mum, I reckon they'd break someone's jaw! And I learned not to be a pushover as well. Which is good. Love your videos, Batchy and if anyone complains about your Glaswegian dialect, just tell 'em to go get stuffed!

Me and my wee brother didn't fight a lot, but when we did, we really fought. I hit him over the heid with a fluorescent light tube once and he retaliated by throwing a pineapple at me, starting off the whole "artillery era" where we threw everything we could think of at each other, including mousetraps, deoderant cans, fruit, veg, money, lighters, lit matches and so on. We also attempted molotov cocktails (lots of empty bottles hanging around my hoose) but we could never figure out how to get them to detonate. When that happened, my mum put us in a room so we could "get it out our system". We put each other in hospital. My wee sister thought it was hilarious.

I'm the eldest of four. When my sister and I were younger, my mum would dress us in the same outfits and then people would ask if we were twins and she'd go "no they're 18 months apart" and still to this day, people ask if we're twins and we don't even wear the same outfits anymore and look completely and utterly different from each other and my sister is taller than me [I was born potite so I'm shorter than all my siblings] Whenever the four of us were watching the television together we'd all try and say which is character is most alike us and which character we were, espeically if the main group was four characters, like Disney Discendants, we'd probably still do it to this day if we watched tv together but we don't, infact I hardly see my younger siblings, I sleep in the living room currently so I don't need to go anywhere to be with family [benfits of sleeping in the living room, get to stay in bed and still socialise with ma family without my parents telling me "come socialise with us". My youngest brother has ADHD and ASD and my other two siblings [sister and brother] pick the fuck outta him like he's some kind of disease that you'll catch just by sitting next to him and I feel quite sorry for him, he can be annoying and I have to admit I've punched holes outta him because he's made me lose it because he wouldn't stop making a certain noise or whatever when I asked him and instead of doing so he cheekily repiles back "No, you're not mum" or something like, nah I ain't mum but she ain't the only person you should listen to mate but he's actually a really nice boy and I think the other two just need to lighten up a bit and stop being so harsh to him, my sister treats me like that too, as if I just poked her she'd die instantly and I'm like "I'd die for you and you treat me this way" no kidding, I would give myself up to save my siblings, maybe it's just a motherly thing because I'm like that but y'know, think I've made myself cry tellin' that, I'd rather I die than live without one or all of my siblings. Sometimes we'd get into arguements over who was sitting on that spot on the sofa first, I don't anymore because I have my own chair in a corner of the living room, in front of the telly and mum would have to step in and be like "She/He was sat there first, go find another spot or go to your bedroom"
@linjoy96276 жыл бұрын
Brilliant! Like your baby brother, I'm the family baby and only girl..... trust me you need to be strong to survive this role as everyone passed the "punishment" down, until I was the "thing". The brothers were 9,8 & 7 when I was born and as you say about your mum being too knackered to bother chastising the youngest, personally I think it was if the other 3 are still alive and breathing, so will this one with less effort!! The boy's would fight over anything, especially having to share a bedroom so that I could have my own room......there was hate the day this was announced, your sister's getting too old to share with you (??? I was only 7) and you have to get in there (mum points to the others room) your dads already set your bed up. He got his revenge on me by teaching me the "C" swear word and assured me that mum and dad would "love" me even more if I went in the house and said it !!! one soar ass later and it hadn't occurred to me to say he told me to say it. B****d went around with a secret smile on his face that day. I paid them all back as I was sent North to Inverness to my dads sisters my aunt's for the summer holidays. I took my revenge on the older who wouldn't let me have any strawberries he'd bought, the next one who babysat me and rewarded me by gagging and tying me up and shoving me in a wardrobe so he could have peace, and the one who taught me to swear. What I did was pack the darts, the cricket bat and a football in my case. so basically they were scuppered and had nothing but a dart board, a cricket ball and stumps!! let's see what they can play with that!!!! Little did I realise I also had to return home at some point!! oops!!!!
