Its so nice to see the warmth of sun and greenery when Northern parts are freezing cold.😊

Love your shaded backyard!! Crazy temps happening in hawkes bay region at the moment too but the horowhenua coast is getting tons of rain!

I don't think we will get much if any rain now for the rest of summer 😬 hope your gardens are growing with the rain and warmth

Thank you for the video. Would really appreciate it if you could do a video showing how your shade sail is set up. I'm in Armadale and its so windy here, the market umbrella i have keeps being knocked over.

Check out my latest short video for a bit more close up. But it comes as a kitset with the clips just on the shade sail section at the big green shed

Hey Holly! I'm glad to see your better half in this video. I remember a prior video when you said you couldn't concentrate with him in the background. I sure am glad you got over that ;-) Cheers!

I’m always excited when you have posted a new video! So great to see an update on how you are using the front shade trellises and how you are tackling the Perth summer sun! I just bought my first home in Perth so am taking all the inspiration for setting up my own garden (the yard is currently all sand 😅)

Another lovely video, thanks. I line my black pots with newspaper to keep the plants cool. So far all is good. My yellow tomato has really lovely fruit. Stay cool this week, yes it is going to be warm.😊

What a great idea thanks for sharing! Yep it's going to be toasty!

I have done that NOT LABELLING MY SEEDS thing too. I have over 60 sprouted tomatoes and cannot remember which one of the 15 types of seeds they are from. And I thought I was doing well when I planted beetroot seeds in a pot, only to find none of the beetroot seeds sprouted and instead I have a pot of very healthy looking thistles. Gardening can be fun!!

My plants in wicking buckets are noticeably happier in this heatwave..... :) Especially if they're under shade cloth too.

Hey Holly Everything looks amazing! Good tip with catching the seeds on head of seedling. Check out rampicante or tromboncino is prolific it might fill space quickly for shade🌿🌸🌻
@SustainableHolly5 күн бұрын
Yes those would be a good idea!
@kellynbtln82345 күн бұрын
@SustainableHolly the rampicante for the arbor if your wanting something quick. They get pretty rough looking end season so u might want something prettier. Or could replant the rampicant mid season n when gets big take out first rampicante. Love the shade sail best summer spot!

Oh Holly, have you never heard of labels? 😊 I do the random seed planting too but usually when I already can't remember what the seeds were. Your garden is looking great. I'm thinking of using shade cloth here in Melbourne too. The weather is all over the place. Cheers and Merry Xmas!
@SustainableHolly5 күн бұрын
I plant far too many things to keep up with labels 🤣😅 but it would certainly be a useful habit to have. Thank you! Merry Christmas 🌱

It gets hot in Perth eh. My son is working up near Newman and he's just told me it's 44c there today. Lucky it's low humidity.

Yep it's going to be about 38 every day this week! Luckily no Humidity!

@@SustainableHolly Curious as to whether you can grow Mango over there. I have a 5ft mango here in Wollongong that was going great guns but seems to be slowly dying. It has black spots underneath the leaves which is apparently Anthracnose which I've been spraying with copper diammonia diacetate but it's not helping. I might try a fungicide next.

How many times a day and a week do you water??
@SustainableHolly5 күн бұрын
It really depends on the weather and gardens. My back food forest garden really only gets once a week but my newer gardens or raised beds will get hand watered more frequently.

Looks fantastic. Well done. I personally would only go 40-50% here in south east Queensland. Suppose there is a lot factors to consider like what your growing and how many hours of sunlight they’re getting from the sides. It’s all looking great. Hopefully that hot weather doesn’t stay to long. 😊😊😊 love your videos your doing a great job 😊

Lol if i attached a shade sail to a fence here it would vanish in a storm! Ive seen whole facias pulled off by shade sails.
