We want to share the origin of the name 'Jawan' Farms. As an aquaponic system farm that uses fish to grow plants for food, and being based in Brisbane, Queensland, we wanted to honour the custodial tribe of this area. Brisbane's traditional name is Meeanjin, meaning "the place of the blue water lilies." So, we chose the name 'Jawan', which means "fish of any kind," to show our respect and connection to the land and its people.
