My first aeonium that I come to love is Kiwi, developed by an Austrailian. Since we moved to San Diego, I was getting depressed because I missed my beautiful garden in Virginia. and could not grow the same flowers as in VA. Now, thanks to Kiwi and your channel, everyday is a happy day. I think I am becoming a succulent addict, haha... Love your channel and watching old ones and new ones. BTW, San Diego has gotten quite bit of rain this winter, hoorah!

I really enjoyed this video. Thank you, Liz. I have quite a few same plants as yours but they are looking quite different from yours. do you think for them to colour up, they need cold temperature? we have lots of sunshine but just not autumn or winter.
@GrowingSucculentswithLizK
@GrowingSucculentswithLizK 3 жыл бұрын
The ones shown here except for longissima all color up better in summer when it's hot. There are a few succulents that also color up better in the shade. There's also some that once they mature, they color up regardless of the temperature.

By the ways, can I ask a few tips on growing Dudleya Greenii. I just bought my very first Dudleya. It's almost been three weeks but it just drinks from it's leaves and still haven't grown any new roots. Im quite afraid to screw up bcoz they're not cheap to buy here. Thank u very much.
@GrowingSucculentswithLizK
@GrowingSucculentswithLizK 3 жыл бұрын
Dudleya are dormant when it's hot or during summer. When grown from a cutting, best to just let it sit on top of the soil with some top dressings and only water when they have roots. These can take a few weeks. Water by soaking the pot halfway so the roots will try to reach for water in the bottom of the pot. Good luck.

Hi liz, are lemon and lime, lime and chilli the same succulent?
@GrowingSucculentswithLizK
@GrowingSucculentswithLizK Жыл бұрын
Not the same. Lemon & Lime have thinner and wider leaves and Lime and chile have shorter thicker leaves. That's with the ones I have.

😘 Thank you so much, I tried looking them up but it's only the lemon and lime that seems to be more popular so comparison was a bit hard. Happy gardening

So Liz. If I leave my succulents (40F and above) out during winter. Will they come back in spring? I’m sure they will die but will they comeback in spring and summer?? Or will they die and never come back? I really want to test out which succulents survive winter here in zone 6b. (New York) I really don’t like the idea of bringing in so many succulents during the winter. What should I do??
@GrowingSucculentswithLizK
@GrowingSucculentswithLizK Жыл бұрын
There are many succulents that can survive even in areas with snow. Knowing which succulent is the key. Sempervivum, some sedum, some Euphorbia, Cotyledon Lewisia, some Ice plant and Orostachys just to mention a few can survive being snowed in. Echeveria, graptopetalum and Aeonium will die from very low temperature and needs to be grown indoors in winter.

Sounds like too much shade.
@GrowingSucculentswithLizK
@GrowingSucculentswithLizK 3 жыл бұрын
Long stem indicates that the plant is leggy and needs more light. Slowly introduce to bright indirect light and eventually in time, progress to direct sunlight.

At what point do you put babies under grow light?
@GrowingSucculentswithLizK
@GrowingSucculentswithLizK 3 жыл бұрын
Anytime is a good time to use the grow light but mostly when the weather is cold. This hastens the propagation process but if I have a choice, I would grow all of them(babies) under the grow light.

Hello mam. My some germinated succulent got rot. What should I do in this case.
@GrowingSucculentswithLizK
@GrowingSucculentswithLizK 3 жыл бұрын
They need to have air circulation and the soil must be moist and not wet. If it's too wet all the time, they will rot. Depends where you plant your seeds, you'll need to lift up the container and put a fan in front of it and let the air blow from the bottom going up. Good luck.
