I Love your channel. You are so knowledgeable, and you interview the most interesting guests. I know what you mean about finding a life partner who shares you Love of horticultural. If you were older, you'd have to chase me off with a stick. Don't give up, and don't settle for someone who doesn't mesh well with your hopes and dreams. I pray you find the one that God made specifically for you. Btw, if you are a Sun sign Cancer or rising sing sign Cancer, the best time to keep your eyes open for Miss Right is in mid May (May 16-20). If you can travel, join (any type of) classes or get involved in a church, love could be waiting (just around the corner🤩). Hopefully, you will be under astral influences that draw in the right person😉😍😇. Best of Luv/Luck to you and your future spouse. Big hugs from your green friend in Texas🤩🤗😉

Have been planning a trip to A Natural Farm for tomorrow on my way home from Tampa to middle Georgia. Was just telling friend I'm staying with that I found out about it from you, and how they have lots of organic cultivars that I haven't seen elsewhere. Then I see I just missed you by a few days! Oh well. Still very looking forward to going there tomorrow. Last time I went for organic dragon fruit, this time for an organic olive tree.

This is a GREAT video!!! Very informative. I don’t know if I missed it but I have two questions. 1) are the avocado varieties only one type of pollinator? Are ALL Mexicolas Type A are ALL Lilas Type A or B? 2) is it required to get both types, A & B to get fruits from your tree or will you a single tree still produce fruit without a mate but maybe only less fruits? One more question to piggy back off the first question, IF a variety produces both A & B trees, how do you know which is A and which is B? Thank you in advance for the information and for making these great videos!!!

When I am so cold in the winter and am checking the temps. it always gets colder right around dawn.There is a variety that will fruit twice a year, maybe Carmen IDK. Some people spray sugar water on the blossoms if you have any orange trees or apple trees around bees will ignore the avocado and go to the sweeter blossoms.

@mikemccright7418

John, early in the video you implied that avocados loose their leaves in the winter. Avocados do not loose their leaves in the winter. They are not deciduous, they are evergreen. They can and will defoliate when they get too cold. If that happens, the tips will die back and if it still gets too cold, they will die of cold or from root rot later in the winter or early spring.

I’ve heard instances of this with other fruit trees. A certain tree is removed because of ignorance or development. Of course, some other nursery “has the same variety”. But, turns out that individual tree actually was displaying different valuable characteristics… but who cares, right?

Hi John, I’m newer to your videos . I have a horrible problem with gophers. I tried taking some of your advice for a lady with a different problem and I got some of the grocery store black plastic garden bins to sink into my planter and fill them with dirt. Well, those disgusting little gophers chewed through the plastic vegetable bins. What can I do? Is there any kind of wire product that I can use for my above ground planters ? I found one item there a type of mesh gallon bag to plant your plants into but I want to put in a new raised garden bed and I’d like to have some thing underneath that planter. Is there any kind of mesh fabric that I can spread underneath the planter before I fill it with dirt and vegetables?

Hy John. Avocado tree is very tuff grow because of their susceptibility to roots diceases. Doesn t like the hard soil, clay soil, should be planted by half over the soil to prevent from over excess moisture, susceptible from wind tolerance...should planting A and B to get fruits. For me fruits tree to plant in a big garden as an expérimentation.

I have three Avocado trees, one in very heavy clay soil seven foot tall. I mixed some sand into the ground, and it is happy! The other two are only three feet tall, so I am waiting to plant them after they get bigger, I will probably build a sand mound for those. I am in northern California; we just had a lot of rain on and off for weeks. So, to help prevent root rot. I gave them some Osmocote to put the nitrogen back into the soil along with some gypsum. I was told they like gypsum!
