@@johnman559Like I already replied to your other comment on this matter, predators are a valuable part of an integrated pest management control, and we literally give away more free frass than we sell. And indeed, beneficial bugs love being around plants and soil which have been fed with BSF.

@@BoogieBrewI can't thank you both enough for the videos. I have learned a lot from what you have given away for free. These videos are priceless. Also boogie brew is amazing. You could literally feel the plants loving the tea if you pay close enough attention. One of my plants was placed into the ground with a little bit of frog soil and that was it. I used a small amount of fertilizer but mostly boogie brew. The plant is 7 feet wide. Second year growing and the difference between what I did last year and this is crazy. Thanks to you both and TD. Much appreciated gentlemen!

I'm not naming names, and it might not speak to the best parts of me, but some people's presence on KZbin can be so glib that it it almost makes the online part of gathering information and ideas an aversion, and I don't want to lose heart in Organic gardening, permaculture, etc. That said, these videos really make me feel happy to incorporate some Boogie Brew products into the 2024 growing season here in Massachusetts. I really like the information and education, but I just as much appreciate the absence of glib. Glib is perfect for turning people off from engaging organic/permaculture growing, and considering the environmental state of affairs, that is bad. Anyway, thank you for all of it.

It should be fine, Boogie has 2 year shelf life. If for some reason you are not seeing any foam, don't worry too much; it is not a true marker of your tea's real microbial potential, (although foam is admittedly 'sexy' and generally indicates activity). Water which is harder (higher in dissolved solids / minerals like calcium and iron, etc), will tend to experience less foam. Foam is not a reliable indicator of microbial activity; we've seen batches with no foam outperform teas with an abundance of foam and visa versa. Foam can be created by proteins from microbial activity, however this is not a reliable indicator. Foam can also come from wetting agents like saponins (eg: yucca) or from molasses. As stated, folks have examined very foamy AACT (Aerobically Activated Compost Tea) which was examined microscopically and almost devoid of organisms, while AACT with no foam was loaded with microbes. AACT is usually ready after 24 to 36 hours, be sure to smell to see that it hasn't turned anaerobic, (sour / ammonia-like odor), and the foods you added, (eg: "Boogie Boost"), have been metabolised. (It should smell sweet & earthy!) 24 hours is usually enough for Boogie Brew, however cold water inhibits microbial activity, so in the cooler seasons it can be advantageous to brew indoors (garage, etc) and / or place a heat mat under the bucket, as well as brew for longer periods (up to 48 hours or perhaps even longer). Be sure to use an adequate pump with sufficient air-strength to obtain proper aerobic conditions in your tea. Our rule of thumb is at least 1 liter of air, (per minute), for each liter of aqueous solution.(about 4 liters of air per gallon of tea). In addition, try to keep water temperature sufficient to allow for decent microbial activity, (about 72 degrees). Always use a dechlorinator and check your water hardness, (high ppm's are less than ideal). To observe when an Actively Aerated Tea is ready: Apply after brewing between 24 and 40 hours; smell it to make sure it has not gone anaerobic (sour / rotten odor); by this point most of the foods you added will have been consumed. The finished tea scent should be "earthy" and somewhat sweet, (some folks say a little like mushrooms). Keep the sniff test handy for any signs of the tea becoming too "mature".

@@johnman559Lol,😂 we give away more free frass than we sell. And btw, we ain't getting financially wealthy at all from any Boogie products. (Try running an honest-value small biz like ours and you will "get it"). As for predators, they are a valuable part of a comprehensive IPM program, but to say they are the "only way" is definitely not accurate as there will always be plentiful natural options like judiciously-applied neem with soap sprays (and rosemary / clove oils for egg control in stubborn infestations, along with sensible companion-planting techniques and soil-life promoting innoculants, etc. In any case, beneficial / predator species seem to thrive in the presence of black soldier fly larvae frass.
