A simple growing algorithm I wrote for minecraft.
First the block checks all 6 adjacent blocks for a dead version
If there is none in that spot, it has a 1/5 chance to place a block there.
After doing this for all 6 adjacent blocks, the original block dies and the new blocks continue the cycle.
This block growth can instantly die or last for hours. It just depends on how lucky it is. In the end it lasted 3 minutes which is a safe number because too many blocks cause it to lag a lot.
note: there is a bug where the blocks become alive after being unloaded and then your pc blows up.
