great video, now the situation for the engraver is not as grave. good showing of the profiles, would be good on a board, or wall poster, as an aid in sharpening the gravers, giving the tools, angles, and grits used.

Hi Molly, I'm very very new to engraving, Please, would you mind recommending what set of gravers needed if I'm interested only in gun graving. A list would be great.. Many thanks dear

Great question. The metal of most firearms is quite hard, so when engraving guns the first thing we recommend is to use a graver that is made from a tough material. GRS C-Max gravers, or similar carbide gravers are a great place to start. The C-Max gravers will keep their edge longer when engraving harder steel. Next, you have to decide what type of C-Max graver to get. Most gun engraving is done with a 90 or 105 degree V-point graver. So you can get either one of the C-Max blank gravers ( grs.com/product/c-max-round-blank/ or grs.com/product/c-max-square-blank/ ), then sharpen it to a V-point, or you can purchase a pre-shaped V-point graver ( grs.com/product/c-max-preshaped-carbide/ ). Please note with the pre-shaped graver you will have to add a heel to ensure proper cutting.
