Negative damage is actually how most triggered healing spells worked in dota1 since you couldn't make one unit heal another unit, so if you wanted to easily track the source of the healing you just make a unit deal negative damage instead. You could generically add HP but then you have to do a bunch of extra work to track the source of the healing. It's the same reason HP removal damage did not credit kills for a long time, like if someone died to Necro's aura it would just count as a suicide.

Watching Grubby playing invoker in the tutorial was an absolute delight! ❤ It took me back to 2014 when i first started trying invoker, (in which there was no training demo screen) and we had to figure out everything manually. 😂 Excellent reply man, its such a treat to watch you play this game. PS cold snap should be your go-to spell in the beginning, its a constant damage/stun. Hard to top that. Also tornado is a great initiator, must use more often. 👍
@angelicdescent62762 жыл бұрын
One of the standard ways to set up deafening blast is to have meteor on d and tornado on f, cast tornado, invoke deafening blast, cast meteor when the enemy is coming down from tornado, then cast deafening blast to push the enemies along the meteor's path as it comes down.

Tip: For faster orb summoning, you can press 2 or 3 orbs at the same time. Let's say you want Chaos Meteor, then you press E+W at the same time and another E. Instead of pressing E, then E again, then W. You basically save 33% time required to set up your orbs for a new spell by doing 2 button presses instead of 3. For deafening blast you can press all 3 of them at the same time and save 66%. Sure, the time saves are tiny, but they add up and Dota is a game of small advantages adding up over time. You also wanna invoke that Ghost Walk as soon as possible a lot of the time to get away.

Grubby the invoker build is usually a combination of two elements whether its QW (cold snap + emp), WE (tornado + meteor), or QE (ice wall + spirit) in the early game before picking the last element and combine every spells in midgame. Pick your talent according to your early combination. Item wise, the must have imo is midas to blink dagger (for positioning ur spell), aghs, and whatever follows depending on the game (aether lens to octarine, refresher, aeon disk, linken, bkb, hex schyte are common late game item for invoker). This hero is very versatile in mid while also useful as pos 4 roaming despite the lack of aoe stun. Cheers for the content xD

For the first game, you were phenomenal! I common theme in your fights here: you have so many options of what to cast, that's just overwhelming. So you stand next to the fight and do nothing. Focus on on some key teamfight spells (tornado, meatball, deafening blast) and just spam those 3 into the fight. At least you deal damage and practice those 3 at the same time. Your remaining stuff is awesome, you use coldsnap very well. Avoid using the meatball for farming since the CD is so long and a fight might be just around the corner. Keep it up, you rock, awesome content!

Great game grubby, just some feedback. Deafening blast would have countered willow a ton this game. If she wasnt in the game you would have won regardless, she seemed like a smurf. But thats also part of learning invoker, you wont always think of all of his spells, incredible job for a first game. The biggest pain of streaming dota is going to be the snipers. I hope you try Abaddon out again sometime, he was my main that carried me to 5k mmr while playing out of meta builds. I built him core as a dps/tank, it's hard to deal with due to his purge on shield and ult giving invuln. You can cast his ult right before big bursts in fights for best effect rather than waiting for the 400 hp pop, or for purging a long disable.

Invoker is not a difficult hero if you don't show off trying to get all your skills in 5 seconds. In Dota 1 they often played, tornado or cold snap, meteor, “banana”. Well, keep your pulse on invisibility just in case. Tinker and Ark Warden are many times more difficult. @majkatrojedjece6585 Жыл бұрын
I play both heroes and inovker is much harder to play once you learn both heroes well. With meepo u can make bind for each one, like 1,2,3,4,5 and also make bind for all meepos but also for all but one, like alt-1 is all except 1, and alt-2 is all except 2. So when num 2 is attacked you press 2 and move away and alt-2 to slect others to peel for 2. Also that setup is good for blink combo etc... meepo really has only 1 build with small variations. And every game is almost the same in how you play it, clear lane with poof go double stack jungle in between, clear it, get as much agi and blink fast, blink on their carry head as soon as posible dont let them any map control, win game before 25min because late game you are not good as other carries.

Hey Grub! You really did great for a first timer. One simple thing to take note if you ever planning to play Invoker again, If you think a teamfight is about to happen, clear your thoughts and put only 2 spells in your mind. Tornado to set the fight up and to help your team to setup as well, and Meteor to do impactful AoE damage. Then you can use whatever spells you think fit. Do not overload your memory with these spells. You'll overcome it by the time goes by. But for now, Teamfight = Tornado and Meteor.
@richardsamola72972 жыл бұрын
lucky for us the order doesn't affect the spell now. early when it is still in WC3 mods, invoker had like lots of skill cause the order of your QWE affect your invoke. like QQW is different from QWQ or WQQ

@drb40742 жыл бұрын
It's not possible to have high map awareness when learning a new character. This is how human minds work. Which is why when you are new to something, you will be measurably bad at everything else except the thing you are currently learning. Until you master it, and then move on to the next part, repeat and repeat. He doesn't need this advice. He has thousands of hours in MOBAs like WC and HoTS. Watch other players of MOBAs, thousands of hours in the game. If they switch to a new champion to learn, the rest of their game suffers. Because you only have so much extra space in your active brain to focus on things. When learning a new champ, it takes up an inordinate amount of your brainpower. So you have much less to devote to all the other important things like "map awareness". God bless him for having to put up with backseaters treating him like he's a complete n00b to gaming. He was a professional champion in WC for goodness' sake...

Also he need to know , that he can stack creeps , using hes forge spirit , during laining... and then farm it by meteor (but the right way, so 1 meteor killing full stack of creeps). He can bind spirits and map on buttons. He can making more combos with goldsnap and other skills.
