Don’t forget you have very powerful mosfets controlling very high voltages all the time and they do wear out inside… read some physics I guess. In gasoline cars all you have is 12v and high voltage coils and it does last forever with proper maintenance. Electric motor tends to wear out as well, so you comment is sorta wrong. So far ev proved to be more expensive to Maintain over 100kmls.

If he reverse engineered it and then started selling his own copies of their cars then sure, that's an IP infringement, but for his own personal car that he paid for himself that he will drive himself, he's allowed to do whatever the hell he wants - even if that means reverse engineering the computers. After all, it's all just voltages on the wires he owns - he can control those voltages however he wants since he paid for the car.
