Follow along on a flight on the Turbine Grumman Mallard all about water operations.
This video follows the process of a company water check. The check is carried out on a yearly basis and is more of an opportunity for pilots to refresh their water skills as the average water landings per year for our pilots is only 150-200 once shared between crew.
This video covers step taxi exercises, splash and dash (touch and go) sequences, stall to step, simulated engine failure and subsequent single engine circuit onto the water followed by water manoeuvring.
I hope you enjoy!

I grew up flying around the British Columbia coast with my dad in the the Grumman Goose CF-VFU that was owned by the company that ran the Martin Mars. Never got a chance to get into a Mallard though, they are beauties.

This is fantastic, man. Keep uploading anything. The aircraft is fantastic and interesting, and I mean who can argue w/ Australian waters and scenery? Water maneuvers, especially holding the nose on a buoy with beta control, has got to be one of the coolest things I've ever seen an aircraft do.

Great Stuff!! Still get a boner everytimeI hear the engines roaring on takeoff. I grew up in Papua New Guinea and we had a Grumman Goose for getting around in those parts in the late 80's. I got to fly it next to my uncle when I was a child. Great memories. We were going to buy a Dornier Sea Star, but it didn't happen. Time to bring back amphibious aircraft. Had my eyes on the Russian Beriev Be-42. Amazing Potential!

Thanks guys, I learned a lot. Some Qs; Which controls raise the torque - the throttles or prop conditions? Is a 'feathered prop' with prop control levers forward or aft? Is 'power' control the throttles or the propeller pitch? how much do you lean the mixture for 3,000ft, 6000ft,?

Ken Gunn the throttles or “power leavers” control the engine torque, and the propeller leaver controls the feathering which needs to be pulled aft of the stops at the aft end.

Ken Gunn also it is a turbine engine so we do not lean the engine
