I just love the Grumpy Old Men movies. The 2 Grumpy Old Men movies have a certain, lovely, warm charm to them. For example, I love how the scenery of the state of Minnesota is practically a co-star. In Grumpy Old Men we get to see how nice small town Minnesota looks with all that snow and ice. And in Grumpier Old Men we get to see what it looks like underneath all that snow and ice. Just beautiful. The small hometown feel also really adds to the charm. Makes one want to move there to live and hopefully have Max, John, Pop, Ariel, Maria (and all the others) as neighbors.

Four of the greatest veteran stars of 1950s/1960s Hollywood (Jack Lemmon, Walter Matthau, Ann-Margaret, and Sophia Loren) were absolutely splendid in this "Grumpier Old Men" scene about infidelity.

Except that Maria's mother, Francesca, ended up having to mediate the arguments between the group. She explains she and John's father, JW, are in a relationship. Maria has no interest in John and was just being a friend in letting him crash at the restaurant after having a little too much grappa. Francesca also mentions that she actually likes Max. This was a shocker to him who earlier thought Maria was a lesbian. She was very embarrassed by Francesca's actions. Ariel was relieved that John is still loyal to her.

@ladyfire442 жыл бұрын
He probably did to Ariel and reassures her nothing happened. John mentions that Maria convinced him to stay the night at the restaurant, rather than drive home because of the strength of the grappa. It's the first time, he was grateful for her saving his life and he slept in the booth he stayed at. Ariel tells John that she is relieved nothing happened, but wished he called home to let her know what happened.

I always hated this scene to be honest. Ariel just accused John of sleeping with another woman, wouldn't hear him out and then when it turns out if was a horrible misunderstanding she just moves on and goes about her business?! Jesus woman, I seriously think you owe John a very big apology. Call me sentimental, but am I the only one who's bothered by this? 🙄
@afriendofbean Жыл бұрын
@Operation 1 Yes that's true. Perhaps it's the robe that gave Ariel a scared feeling where she thought John was sleeping naked with Maria when of course, John maybe should have said that he drank too much alcohol and passed out all drunk and he could have said that when he woke up, he was feeling weird in the head where Maria offered him to take a shower in her bathroom to make him feel better.

@@Dane_Youssef I understand that. But once it turned out he didn't cheat on her, I think at the very least he deserves an apology for being treated like that. I know if I were in his shoes I'd be deeply hurt and upset by such a thing 🤷🏻♂️
