If I could like your video a thousand times, I would. Have waited over 25 years to see photos or footage of the Grundys ghost train, let alone more of the place itself. So many memories from my childhood! This was my favourite place to go. Thank you so much for converting, uploading and sharing

I was stunned when I saw this video while having a local nostalgia wallow. At the 24 second mark, 2 young females enter the video - both in white tops, the shorter in a light blue skirt, the taller in a dark blue skirt with long hair tied back in a scrunchie. The camera pans back down around 31 seconds and they cross the shot again in front of the Art Union prize car. The camera pans right then left and at 39 seconds they're seen from behind walking along the arcade. I'm convinced it's my wife (before we married) and her younger sister. My wife agrees it looks like her and her sister, and she agrees it's quite possible it is them as they were frequently going to the beach at Surfers and walking through Grundy's quite often at that time. I'd love to get a higher res copy or view the original video!

That's fantastic and amazing that your wife and her sister are possibly in the video, the original is on a video 8 tape or something like that. That would probably be as good a quality as you will get, and that is the full recording I have of Grundys.

I wish there was footage of the Grundy's waterslides, they were fantastically fast and fun back in the day.

if they had kept the Grundy's waterslide going in 1989, 1990, 1991 instead of closing it down or shutting it down in 1987 or 1988 there might have been some footage of it

Damn, I loved that place. The ghost train was great. I loved the BB gun Wild West shooting range and playing Afterburner in the arcade. The complex even had indoor waterslides. Such a shame it's gone.

Agreed. There was nothing like it. Such a fun atmosphere! Not sure why, but that gold waterfall at the back if i remember correctly from floor to ceiling always caught my eye too.

I remember holidaying there when i was young my Aunt entered her name into the win a car shown in your video ground level she won a Ford Capri. Thanks for the memories there now coming back to me

I feel old after watching this. It was awesome hearing "Falling to Pieces" by Faith No More being played in the background at Grundy's though. (Just as Jason Donovan's plaque is viewed).

FANTASTIC, EXCELLENT, SUPERB video! I went to Grundy’s many times. When I was a kid (in the 1980s), my family frequently stayed at a camping ground near Tallabudgera Creek (we are from NSW). At night we would head over to Surfer’s Paradise and to Grundys. This video brings back a lot of childhood memories for me. Thanks for the awesome upload! 👍😃
