That was the true day "The Music Died" . I still feel sad about it. Only a couple of years later there were drugs available that could have saved him.

The one detail that still hurts especially since the day was already bad because Freddie had died but the one death on the same day that some people either don't know about or don't realize is that Eric Carr (2nd drummer of KIϟϟ) died the same day but a lot of people think his death was quickly overshadowed by Freddie's. I love both Queen and KIϟϟ and Eric and Freddie are both amazing singers. R.I.P. "The Fox" Eric Carr and Freddie Mercury.

When I saw Farrah Fawcett's bio it pointed out that the end of her long struggle and her death from colon cancer was overshadowed by Michael Jackson's passing on the same day.

The last song Freddie Mercury ever recorded was "the Show Must Go On" for Queen's Innuendo album. The song was written primarily by Brian May as a chronicle of what Freddie went through to keep making music. The song was released as a single 6 weeks before Freddie's death.

I think the last one was Mother Love, recorded in May 1991, shortly before the last video (These are the Days of Our Lives) was shot. The Show Must Go On was recorded in late 1990.

While they remained good friends, Mary Austin was not Freddies life partner and they were not living together. Mary was married and had a family of her own. Jim Hutton was Freddies partner, at his death, and they had been together for several years.

Freddie only allowed Peter Freestone, David Clark and of course Jim near the end, He left money for Jim to buy a house but the bulk of his wealth was left to Mary. He did call her his “common law wife”.
@spadelump

@@bluebonnetbunny4813 since at the time it was illegal for his boyfriend to ever be his common in law husband, it makes sense he'd only say it about her as joke. But legally his long-term bf had no rights. And he kept their relationship v private because of the homophobia of the time so more likely to mention her.
@bluebonnetbunny4813
@bluebonnetbunny4813 Ай бұрын
@@spadelump he could have left Jim more money. In fact, Jim was a little surprised. There are Numerous interviews about his love for Mary. He states that : “All of my lovers asked me why they couldn’t replace Mary. But it’s simply impossible. The only friend I’ve got is ask Mary and I don’t want anyone else. To me, she was my common-law wife. To me, it was a marriage. We believe in each other. That’s enough for me”. There are many more instances of their deep relationship. Mary supported him before Queen. They lived together for 6-7 years while Queen was starting out. Their relationship takes nothing away from Freddie’s relationship with Jim. He was fortunate to have loving people in his life that supported him until the end.

My wonderful late roommate and friend seemed to be going through a similar pattern of letting go back in 1994. His stages were getting more complicated as time went on and he not only had a home care, but was on this liquid feeding supplement system as well as meds. Oddly, on a Sunday night I checked in with him and I thought it was unusual he didn't seem to be taking anything. When I asked him he said his doctor said he could "take a day off"! The next morning, apparently when the home care showed up he collapsed going to the door and was immediately hospitalized! I got a call later that day on message to try to reach out to his doctor and got the sad news! Later on when services were collecting up his unused meds I noticed that one of them pointed out a bottle of straight morphine he was taking for pain. I guess he felt he had reached his limits!

@jodawson5268 Ай бұрын
@gedbill4058 she has never revealed where his ashes are and never will. One of his biographers has discovered where his ashes are, but not through Mary but through a chance meeting with a lawyer. His ashes are interred on a private burial site on private land somewhere in London, which Freddie must have arranged himself. His remains are unmarked with his dates but legal ledgers prove he is there. Mary followed his instructions to the letter after dodging the press who were following her around for a couple of years.

How heteronormative was this. He had a boyfriend by his side and he was his long-term partner. This literally only mentioned his ex before he'd come out. I remember the time well as I was a kid who saw the amount of homophobia in the press and at time I probably thought this is why I had to hide the fact I was gay until a decade later. But this video barely mentioning his partner ffs. His partner was ignored enough at the time, think would wise up decades later.

Stop whining and trying to assign your bitter labels and commentary to the situation. Furthermore, the video clearly mentions Jim. Stop projecting; this isn't about you or your life. Freddie was an intensely private man who didn't make a habit of sensationalizing who he was with. Pigeonholing that as some kind of byproduct of homophobia is presumptuous and callow.

@@lucilleconsenza8239 Look, what is never mentioned at the time is that Mary was heavily pregnant with her second child. She also had a little toddler to look after, yet she still sat with him for hours at a time. They took it in shifts between them so he was never left alone. Jim was not present when Freddie died, that was Dave Clarke. Jim was in the house and Mary had just left, she came straight back when they phoned her. Don't take Jim's book as the gospel because it wasn't. He actually said so later on, it was wishful thinking on his part.

@@lucilleconsenza8239 how old are you. I've been around a long time and am a Queen fan from the begining. I know what I know. I have read every biography that has ever been written on FM, Offical and unofficial over the years. Peter Freestone was the one that put the record straight on what happened with Freddies will, and its aftermath. He was the one that explained about the need for the 3 men to move out of the house to allow the legal probate to continue. He also said that Mary had been and had left. He also left then because he had done the night shift. So he wasn't actually there when Freddie died so accepted Jim's version of events. Which by his later admission wasn't exactly true.
