The more gear I buy the happier I am about being 5'10 165-175 lb, seriously. Most of the gear seems to max out around that height and weight, things like sleeping pads, sleeping bags, ponchos, etc. The tear away emergency zipper is absolutely genius. The biggest problem I have with sleeping in a bag is vulnerability, but that's basically non existent with this

First off congrats on the rapid channel growth. Each time I check on here you've gone up another 1,000 subs this week. I'm very impressed with how well this gear stood up to the testing. A bit of a bummer that the bag is a bit snug. I'm about the same height as you but over 230lbs.... man I weighed myself with my work gear on the other day, 256lbs. Time for me to shape up. Anyhow, great to see another product earn the Grunt Proof seal of approval.

It's not that warm, for autumn you need a second bag to keep warm. However it's quite nice to use when you get up in the morning so you don't have to leave bed to get dressed if it's cold outside.

PBR was my dad's favorite beverage, that and Crown Royal. As a kid I liked the blue bags to put my gear in...great possibles pouches. I own several sleeping bags but never zip them closed unless I'm striking camp to leave the site. Claustrophobia is my downfall so they are used like quilts including the Swagman Roll. On really cold nights I will add either my woobie or a Snugpak Jungle Blanket. I bought my Swagman Roll right after Shawn Kelly did his review several months ago.

Thanks for the review. I just picked up one along with the Helikon-Tex Poncho. Would love to see a review of the two together. Also, as far as the size goes, I am 6'4", 240, and it fits me pretty well. Definitely tight as a sleeping bag but still manageable. I see this as an improvised sleeping bag for emergency situations, not something I would use for general camping/backpacking, so I am not expecting comfort.

nice gear. you are right, i also have one in use, as a universal tool outdoors canoeing aso. and the most problem, is the width, my chest circumference is aprox. 54 in with t-shirt..no muscels, pure fat :-) it doesnt work as a sleepingbag, but if i pull it up only till my chest, and pull over a light synthetic jacket, that works fine!!! 👍cool review, subscribed! I own and love the Swagman Role. I've carried it as 'emergency blanket/jacket/quilt' for close to two years (>20months). Is it perfect? Of course not. It is also a bit on the expensive side. Hopefully they will come out with an XL version (210cm * 180cm) some day, but since it is supposed to be compatible with a rain poncho I'm not holding my breath.

@@GruntProof A pleasure mate. Admittedly most of my weight is around the middle at the moment so that might be why it isn't so problematic. Maybe if my weight was where it should be, around the chest and shoulders, it might be a different matter. I have grown to love the damn thing..... yup.....BOUGHT ANOTHER ONE just last week....yup.....changed my mind.....I now say "yes, it is worth the money".....(juat thought I would let you know).....big difference in the warmth after I sprayed outside of it with waterproofing.....I use it as insert inside my jungle bag too.....I still do like wool though..... but the swagman is pretty handy and very light....yup.... and I do agree the zipper is really good.

Been eying these for a good while . Hesitant about them because of few issues. Seem a bit overpriced , I’m fairly tall and I’ve read several times that the opening for your head is tight. After watching your review they cost doesn’t seem too bad. I know the size is made to match a standard poncho so I’m just screwed on that end . Does the opening for a persons head seem small ? Thanks for all of your reviews
@GruntProof

It's smaller than the poncho opening for sure, but I wouldn't wear it like that. I mainly use it as a light sleeping bag or hammock underblanket. I think the price mirrors the current popularity. Wait a bit and I bet you'll find a cheap one soon. Thanks
