Great Video! I didn't see the details of how to mount the microphone part of the system though. Thanks for posting.

I pretty much followed your video along with looking on the LR Baggs website for orientation of the mic postion. I installed on a Recording King RD 227, which is pretty much crafted after a Martin Herringbone D 28 (HD-28). I must say, WOW!!! Man, huge sound, no feedback supressor in the sound hole. Sounds wonderfully natural. Thanks for posting.

Great instructional video! I bought this pick up for my acoustic but was considering returning it. I didn’t want to drill into the wood, or have a battery inside. This video has convinced me otherwise🙏

@ramblingdanwinnipeg : Doing what we do and the amount of vintage Martin's that we sell, we are well aware of that guitar's value. Given the fact that oversize ivoroid endpins are available if someone wants to remove a pickup and go back au natural, we do not feel that this type of modification diminishes the value of the guitar (although some of course disagree). In the end, it doesn't matter because the owner of this guitar will never sell it, gigs with it, and enjoys the pickup.

@GryphonStrings Ah man. You guys left out the part that I wanted to see the most, which was how to instal the TruMic. I really wanted to see that. It's okay though. Oh BTW I have a Yamaha CG-201S. Do you think the Anthem is better for me as a posed to a Dean Markley ProMag? The price difference is huge, but if the Anthem will work better for my guitar, that is extra money I will gladly spend. Thanks in advance for any feedback and Hafa Adai from Guam!

Hi can you help to install the same pickup for my Martin D28?
@HughMcManners7 жыл бұрын
I also wondered about not going for the full version (with pickup mixer and phase button) - given the amount of work required to fit. On the other hand, an acoustic guitar pickup is purely for live gigs, with the engineer controlling the eq. You use the screw driver to set up how you want the guitar to sound to him and he alters it to suit the room. Not having to mix the two pickups is one less thing to do have to do at sound check - although the phase button would be useful.

why omit the installation of the under-bridge tru-mik pickup?????????????? ... it's the major part of this system???????????????

@settah17 Yes, in our opinion the Anthem is the most natural, affordable system on the market currently.

@signofthebeast66612 жыл бұрын
Is this Anthem pickup/preamp preferable to, say, a Dean Markley soundhole pickup with a LR Baggs DI box? With that box you get equalization that it doesn't appear you get with the Anthem. What do you think?

ok, just got mine back from the guitar shop and trying to figure out how I'm supposed to change the battery without removing the strings. Is there a tool, or a trick to it?
@EvenWaysMusic8 жыл бұрын
+Greg Christopfel Not really. The best thing you can do is not remove the strings at all but just loosen them enough so the strings can be parted just enough to change the battery. Much less hassle and easier to set back.

Great video..... Though the only part I do disagree with is the statement that all the components doesn't affect the tone acoustically when it actually does. Drilling the bridge, mounting to the underside of the bridge, and all the other components affect the vibration characters of the instrument pretty dramatically. Though in a live setting you typically don't hear the differences. However in the studio you can notice the difference quite dramatically. I for one would never add a pickup to an instrument that wasn't initially installed with a pickup. I basically have my live guitars, and my studio guitars.
@johnnystrat3 жыл бұрын
Totally agree - there's a marked difference in the quality of the sound.
@bonesbginnis6 жыл бұрын
I just watched this watched video and when the guy in the pink shirt says it does not change the acoustic tone of the instrument he is quite wrong about that, even LR baggs has admitted that these pickup kill some acoustic volume.

OH MAN. Ive had nightmares of my guitar being drilled like that. I live all the way in Dubai, I really want you guys to do the same thing to my guitar as you did to the one on the video. Can we work something out?
@GryphonStrings13 жыл бұрын
@CFMD28 In our opinion it does not. It is relatively easy to reverse, and while some would not want to buy a guitar such as this with pickup, many modern buyers are not concerned.

As for all of the comments about the value of the guitar, unless you bought your guitar strictly as an investment to resale or as a museum piece to look at every now and then and go oooo... awww... I think you made a great choice and good job with the install. At what part of the video did you install the microphone piece of the system? How did you select the proper location for it? Thanks. Great Video.

The shop's fixed camera couldn't show you much. In any case, it's an easy stick-on fix - unlike the under-saddle fix which I appreciated for being demonstrated with such clarity.

Oh dear guys. A guitar is for PLAYING, its not a museum peice. In the Ashmolean museum in Oxford is a Stradivarious Violin - it is never played and is worth litterally millions, but it was taken out and played a few years ago and guess what - it sounded like shit. Musical instruments are for playing - not glass cases.
@BassWhoopinFishingTeam7 жыл бұрын
Agreed! Life is too short to hold onto things like that! I have a 65 gibson LG-0 that i inherited from my grandparents. I think it sounds pretty bad compared to my Taylor and Alvarez. But its worth a lot more then both. It's sentimental which is why i hold onto it but i play all of my guitars!
@diego2112gaming4 жыл бұрын
I would be very interested to see that video. The concept of a Strad that sounds like "shit" is beyond me. I'd be very interested to hear this alleged violin, and be able to tell you if it's the violin, or the recording that sounds like "shit." Strads are many things, but "shit" they are not.

Okay, you've got your Buffalo Springfield sideburns and haircut to go with your Buffalo Springfield song intro, I get that, but your shirt screams Hall & Oates or Huey Lewis and the News. So, what's up with that?

sorry - but it'd be way wiser to install that in a new D-28 rather than diminish the value of a guitar of that vintage by drilling out the endpin. That guitar is worth all original around 5-6k on the market today.

Couple moments of false information in this video is a Piezo pick up only picking up the bass frequency is not true. And that the microphone will be picking up the mid and high-end. Both questionable advice. Just a couple things that make me wonder about the advice.

Only a snob would not want to buy a guitar that's installed with a good pickup like the Anthem. A guitar with pickup that sounds good is better value than an expensive guitar without pickup that sounds like crap.

The sound from the LR Baggs Anthem is unquestionable, however, why is an American dressing in clothes and a haircut that makes him look like he comes from Liverpool in the united kingdom when he is clearly American? Very strange to see, he literally looks like he is dressed as a Beatle, ie: Paul McCartney.
@fab46475 жыл бұрын
The first impression I got when I saw him is that perhaps he is part of a Beach Boys Tribute band. Brian Wilson during the Pet Sounds album was the first person I thought of?
@seanmcaleavy23695 жыл бұрын
@@fab4647 No, you are both mistaken. It's the Buffalo Springfield. From the neck up anyway. The chords he keeps playing are the intro to On the Way Home. Written by Neil Young and sang by Ritchie Furay on the band's final album. Neil had the Beatle doo with the muttonchop sideburns. I don't know what kind of statement he's trying to make with that Huey Lewis and the News pink shirt though.
