having a break from the engine woes, and swapping out the old tired standard rear shock, and fitting a nice firm sv650 shock instead, with longer dog bones to account for the height change.
the new shock came from a 1999 - 2002 sv650

Agreed, but i had already done it for a previous bike i had, so it was just a straight swap this time.

“That’s disgusting really” man my anxiety watching you touch that with your hands Hahahaha that has some “cake” on it, I bought a Chevy Tahoe to take the engine out and it had a 1” thick layer of cake all over the front of the engine looked just like your suspension

Yea i was pretty gross. Later on when i strip it for paint, il get at all the linkage with hd cleaners and clear it all out. I also have a spare swingarm incase its hiding some nastiness. Have a good family christmas! Cheers for the support.
